TDV8 Vogue 'issues'

Nothing to be alarmed at. Just a couple of points which are now obvious to me after 3 years in a D3. All I'd like to know is whether these are 'normal' or not.

1. Leaving pets in the car. On the D3, pushing the keyfob lock twice disabled the ultrasonic alarm with corresponding 'clicks' from the car. The Vogue apparently does the same via the keyfob, but there is no confirmation click. As a result, I never know if it's done properly and if the dogs are going to set-off the alarm. Evil or Very Mad

2. Autolock. On the D3, if I unlocked the car but didn't open a door, the car locked itself again after about 30s. The Vogue stays unlocked for evermore. Neutral

3. Auto Wipers. I leave my wipers set to 'Auto' (intermittent) all the time. If it's Censored ing down when I start the car, the wipers won't work. I then drive off in a downpour, and the wipers still refuse to waken-up until I have switched them to 'On' and back to intermittent. By contrast, the D3 wiper stalk was left in the same position all the time and starting the car in the rain saw the wipers come-on automatically every time. I've yet to find a big puddle on a dry day to confirm if they still won't work when splashed during driving. Rolling Eyes

The final point is the only real issue I've had in 6k miles. On two occasions, inserting the key into the ignition has seen the steering wheel drop down to the lowest possible height (touching my knees) for no reason. Pressing the memory button has had no effect on this and I've had to re-set my memory buttons afterwards. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

Totally agree with you JMC on all 3 points its the same in mine. Concerning the auto relock the manual says this is a dealer enabled item, which sees daft to me. When i bought the car I asked for everything to be enabled which they normally don't do but looks like they missed this one.
Wipers do the same as well have to reset them every time to get them to work. As i have mentioned before on this forum the wipers do not even auto park when u switch off the ignition.

Its a shame really because this is a brilliant car spoilt by minor irritants.
I had a D3 before and loved it, really considering going back to a D4 with all those new toys

Loved it but couldn't go back to the Discovery. Mate turned-up here with a brand new 09MY in Stornoway and I had forgotten how 'van-like' it was from a drivers perspective. DSL also here arrived with my old D3 and although I still love the look of the motor, I couldn't go back to sitting there after the FFRR.

I just want my feckin wipers and locks to do what I expect them to. Rolling Eyes The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

1. Totally right, very confusing, I didn't even knew it had this feature.
2. The open door thing is intriguing, I thought mine had a problem.
3. I just turn the wiper frequency adjuster one click and then back and this does it. On every car I had the auto wipers were disabling themselves after switching off the engine. Apparently to prevent them from breaking if forgotten on auto in a car wash...

THe D3 also had a place to tuck the rear load bay blind when you folded the seats flat. I still have not worked out a good place for the rear parcel shelf for the FFRR. Those side bins in the boot of the D3 were really useful too.

I also raised and lowered the suspension off the key fob on my D3, I am not sure you can do that with a FFRR.

At least the wipers are wisper quiet on the FFRR, my D3 used to screech unless it was a down pour.

The TDV8 lump makes up for all the minor irritants though, still astounds me how easily it moves 2.7 tonnes around. 2018 Range Rover Autobiography

I've never quite sussed this bit out. Why can't they put it in the D3 when it goes in the RRS? Confused

Mind you, would you be seen driving a TDV8 RRS Ken? Wink The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile
