Also with the fine Coax it's very easy to get ground loops. We use RA8000 in work sometimes with 1.0/2.3 connectors which are similar to the connector on the camera but with additional locking mechanisms and we sometimes with digital communications have a real nightmare and end up re-terminating them.

A mile away from RG58/59

It may be wise to ask Mr. Dan the Duckworth's man about a new loom.

I've ordered one for a new camera and it wasn't expensive. Was planning when it arrives to swap out the camera and take some pics for a write up.

Also a possibility it's knacked is if the cable got water in and caused a high VSWR.

Good luck! Thumbs Up

Yippee

Installed the camera, should have been straight forward but as usual with these cars it wasn't..! The screwhead that keeps the casing on the camera was worn so that took a lot of effort to get off. Once I got angry with it it came off in one piece..! Then the wiring should have been straight forward but as stated before my connections were cut. Happy days, working camera.. Very Happy had a look at the old one and I could see moisture inside the glass so that was clearly the culprit to the problem

Will the camera from a 2010 FFRR retrofit into a 2007 MY which has a camera already but a poor one at that.

I've heard the 2010 camera is far better quality and has parking lines on it, it looks a different shape and may be a differing wiring set up hence my question?

I'm planning a how to on this, I've got a 2010 camera just waiting for the loom.

Craig has been helpful with advice as he's done it.

Is the loom custom made? Does the 2010 camera mount onto the spoiler of an 07 correctly or does it need mods?. Cant wait for your how to !!

Hi, it's a standard part for 2010.

You have to move/ re drill as the wire entry point fouls.

Hopefully when my loom arrives I'll be getting stuck in!

Hey Carlos.

Loom arrived. Next hurdle failed.

Need to order the plastic holder for the camera as the 2010 is a slightly different shape. Looks the same but when I came to remove and re-fit today it doesn't hold the camera.

I did check the connections though and it worked really easily.

The Coaxial cable needs the brown plastic surround removing which is easy and you need to swap the power connection from the old camera, again really easy.

I've taken the first strip down pics on my phone but need to order the other bit to make it look stock.

Also really clear to see that the old camera has a really shyt glued seam which is obviously where the moisture gets in.

On the 'dry run' the new camera looks a better resolution and has the yellow lines on it.

I'll order the holder on Monday and carry on next weekend weather permitting.

Thumbs Up
