apologies for the other thread scarey, wasnt sure about carrying it on in here as Ive drifted from FSR to changing battery....

Cool, I'll get it off and charged and to my local Varta dealer to check, am seriously thinking about buying a Bosch S5 (110Ah, 920cca) from my local EuroCarParts as theyre only 2 miles away

Almost all cars have multistage resistor packs to control the heater blower .
RR Classics do.
Classic symptom of failure is when the blower only runs at maxmum speed and no other.
Not expensive, might be worth a pm to Dan at Duckworths.
The resistor pack is usually located in the side of the heater blower inlet air duct under the dash.

Quick update guys
Got my new FSR today so hopefully try fitting it tomorrow, I've got the 'how to' guide printed off, anything I should watch for?

Then new Bosch battery goes on Smile

The large circular indent in one side of the FSR is the top face. Smile

Quick update, from someone with 2 left hands I managed to change the FSR was a bit of a pig to get at but it's done, new battery on tomorrow when my hired muscle comes round to help lift the things out and in Rolling Eyes

Hmmmm.... Bloody car!! Right, fitted a new FSR 10 months ago, and think it may of gone again? I opened her up today (after putting a new S5 Bosch on it), opened passenger door and leaned in to passenger footwell to pull the fuse for the FSR, as I pulled it out, I'm pretty sure I heard something come to a stop, possibly a fan running very very quietly, as I pulled the fuse it stopped

Replace FSR again??

Could well have been the air temperature sensor fan running and stopping when you pulled the fuse.
Located behind the small grille on the left of the air distribution selector switches.

How long is that air temperature sensor fan supposed to stay on for?

I think I've got a battery drain (Voltage 12.3 after running the car for most of the day yesterday) and I can hear the small fan for several minutes after I switch off. I waited for at least 8 minutes but it was still running. Hooked up the battery charger and will check again tomorrow. 2012 5.0L S/C

Update:

Charged the battery fully overnight. Disconnected and attached Multimeter in series between the earth cable and negative battery post. Amps settled down to 1.92A after a few minutes and then dropped to 0.02 / 0.03A after 18 mins.

So it doesn't look like I have a serious parasitic battery drain.

I later sat in the vehicle and waited for it to go to sleep. After 18 mins the whirring sound from the a/c sensor fan stopped so that must be the 1.9A load. But it does stop!

I'll have to wait and see why my battery voltage had dropped to 12.3 despite being out for a run. It was showing 12.7 today after starting it, running diagnostics to read and clear all faults (with the IID tool of course!) resetting clock time and date and putting it back in the garage. All appears well. I'll check again tomorrow.

To repeat a question from further up this thread: Has anyone with a TDV8 had the FSR problem? 2012 5.0L S/C

sorry to resurrect this thread but I have battery drain as well. Sat in the car tonight and heard the fan slowly whirring. Pulled a fuse, can't remember which and I heard another sound coming from the drivers footwell like a kettle boiling. I removed fuse 12 and it stopped.

Is that the FSR? And would you think its a fault? What makes it run? The car hadn't been used for about 3 hours.
