43 - Pasenger Side Removal – 250 viewsThis was much more straight forward (it's only always difficult the first time!) Fortunately neither of the big bolts was seized. I had the strut out inside three quarters of an hour from start. I won't go step by step on this one, just highlights.

41 - ABS Clip and Air Suspension Test – 259 viewsThe new strut didn't come with the little clip. It broke when I tried to remove it from the old one, so again back in my box of bits to find a brake line clip from MG days. Wheel back on, reconnect battery, start engine, lock to lock the steering wheel, wind drivers window down, shut all doors. Should get "some" air in new bag. Switch off engine, remove axle stands lower car with jack, but not all the way. Start engine. Vaboom, air suspension raises car. Remove jack, check for air leaks. That's one side.:)

40 - Brakes refit – 241 viewsFinally fitted the grub screw that holds the disc in place.

39 - Rattling back plate fixed also – 257 viewsOn last MOT I got an advisory about rattling brake cover. The three fixing holes had rusted/deteriorated, so I dug out some bonnet washers from an MGB to spread the holes.Refit of other parts for the strut was a straight forward reversal of removal. You may need to jack up the hub, and use a lever on the ARB to refit the drop link. The two big bolts were cleaned and went back easily. All nuts and bolts treated with Copper Ease

38 - Strut in place! – 260 viewsThis is fun, you either need arms that are twice as long or a three foot neck to be able to do what is going on :) A bit of blind faith, a few trial runs and it should slot in. Make sure you have a wood block available to support the strut in place, so you can then fit the nuts and tighten up. I used the paper gasket off the original strut.

37 - Refit the airline – 278 viewsThe new strut came with a new connector, but I stuck to the instructions about not removing the connector from the airline and used the existing one. RAVE says to fit this loosely and then tighten once strut in place, but its a right fiddle to get at the nut like this so try to check the position of the airline when it will be in place and tighten before inserting strut.

36 - Refit time – 273 viewsNew strut removed from box, ready for insertion. Much work has happened prior to this. Steam cleaning of inner wheel arch and area, sanding, de-rusting (KURUST), and painting (Red Hammerite) airbag turret, and a slap of Black Hammerite on parts of the chassis and hub I could get at.

57 - Finished at last – 268 viewsAir suspension probably needs to be calibrated after all the messing about, and the FFRR needs a damn good clean. Been off the road for over four weeks whilst waiting for my RSW All Comms and doing this work. Hope this helps someone :)

56 - Finished at last – 291 viewsBack on all four wheels. Set in Off Road measured bottom of rim to wing on both sides and left it overnight. No change the following morning so hopefully this means no leaks. Will test again by removing fuse 37, just in case the car sorts itself out whilst I am not there!

55 - Wheel Arch Liner – 291 viewsThe separate rubber bit that goes at the bottom has a hidden plastic pop rivet you need to fix before refitting the liner. I forgot this, but wasn't going to remove the liner again! Just keep pushing and prodding, working the outer edge inside the wing, and eventually everything will be in place. For the three plastic nuts, use a bit of silicon or some kind of goo to seal these holes, not needed on the other fittings though. Difficult to photograph and do this at the same time.

54 - Wheel Arch Liner – 330 viewsRAVE simply says refit liner (oh yeah!) Get it roughly in position. Might help to warm it up to make it more pliable, especially around the outer edge. I started at the front, getting the lower part up and over the back of the bumper bits and then gently started to lever the outer edge behind the wing. YOu should get to a point where the bolt on the wing pops through the hole. Put the nut on!
