I pay the insurance premium as a lump sum.
Obviously I now need to carry a copy of my relevant bank statement as well. Smile
In the circumstances I would quiet happily persue a complaint as I do not believe an officer would have "reasonable" grounds to sieze my car.
It is not my responsibility to enter my car on MID, by insuring my car I have fully complied with the law.
Could be a nice one for Professional Standards. Thumbs Up

Im with you on this one but its getting more Big Brother every day, watching a Customs programme and they were stopping people at an airport and asking where they got their money from if they had more than Ł1K on them to go on holiday, they wanted their NI numbers etc One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

Agreed, hence my point with any complaint needing to go to the insurer/MID rather than the officer acting on the information available at the time of the stop.

If you had insurance but there was an error on the MID you would not be prosecuted for driving without insurance as this process could be stopped in time before any 'notice of intended prosection'/summons was sent out but that still wouldn't have an effect on the roadside seizure (which obviously would have to be completed with the information available AT THAT TIME)

I don't think a complaint against the officer would go anywhere (in my opinion) 2003 Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

I've now also found a copy of a letter from my insurers thanking me for taking out the insurance and confirming payment in full.
In the meantime this will also go in my car with the other documents.
