Unfortunately Its looking like that way. But I leave for a 2 week holiday on fri morning and physically
Just can't do that now for at least 3 weeks.

My local took a look at it today and took the large hose that the air filter and MAF sensor is attached too completely off and found that the seal was cracked and somehow pushing the hose off slightly. They cleaned some throttle assembly (?) out turned the seal round and replaces the hose so that the the Jose was being forced back towards the engine rather than pushed away. They took it on a 35 mile test drive, foot to the floor and 30 mpg constant and it was fine. They let it
Cool down for a few hours and came back and started it a few times. Glorious.

I drive about 10 miles and stop, am out the car for 20 mins, get back in and as soon as I start her up engine light back on.
I presume with the same codes. The only difference for me being that I had been using the aircon and started the RR with the aircon still switched on.

I had no problems until I had the aircon recharged when I got it back to Glasgow. Could this be linked to the aircon?

Censored doesnt even cover it.

I wouldn't think the aircon should affect it appart from engine loading. When mine was on LPG the Revs would drop as the clutch on the AC compressor engaged. The ecu knows when this is due to happen and gives the engine an extra bust of fuel to stop this happening. On the LPG it caused the dip due to the calorific value being less on lpg than petrol. They are very clever engines.
Get out your allen keys and head out to the car while it's light. undo the 4 Alan bolts on the engine cover. Only a 1/4 tutn on each releasss them. At the back of the rocker covers are 2 Black hoses. They look like the cross over to the other side. About 1 inch diameter. They should be quite stiff and resistant. If they aren't get them changed. They form part of the PCV system and if these hoses are Censored they will most definitely add to any emissions problems. Unfortunately land rover made these hoses out of a material that degrades over time due to oil getting in them, they then fail causing problems. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Ill go check this right now. But I was assured when I bought it that these 'breather hoses' (that's what he called then) were all replaced,
For the exact reason that they degraded and while the front end conversion was being done they changed them as standard practice.

Ill definitely have a look right now though. Just incase.

I'm appreciating everyone's helpful advice and wisdom.

Do you have any Landrover specialists by you? Might be worth speaking to the garage you bought from and see if you could talk them into letting a local indy look at her? offer to throw £150 at it for diagnosis etc as it's cheaper than£ 300 in fuel back top Essex? Hoses checked and they seem fine. They even still have the paperwork attached to them and its clean so that's an obvious sign they are new to the untrained eye I suppose.

Quick google search is showing a few LR specialist around. Ill try and see what I can negotiate tomorrow and see if its possible to see someone up here.

Ill also having to be chiming my local and getting them to Mae sure something silly hasn't been missed when they replaced the hose and check if the codes are the same 2002 / 52 Range Rover Vogue 4.4V8 with 2012 front end and rear light cluster conversion.

Hi,

Sorry guys I thought I had posted, but in haven't.

Too update, My light is off and has been for about 1000miles now.

I had a few things done in the process but the last was to have the seals from the MAF to the engine in the big air intake hose replaced. The light stayed on but I was asked to run it like that and see what happened. I did and about 200 miles later the light went off itself. The garage suspected the ecu would want to reset if it found the fault was gone. And it did.

About two weeks ago ingot the dreaded air susp inactive warning, similar left my lights on, drained the battery, got a 1.0ltr corsa to jump start me, re calibrated my steering sensor by turning full left and right lock and voila, air susp prob cleared and back running perfect. Garage suspect it was a power surge that caused the fault code to show, as all air bags etc work like new.

But after jumping the RR the engine light came on for about 100 miles then disappeared. Hopefully this was just a residual
Code left swimming around and now it's gone it's gone.

So far, driving like a dream. And I never made trip back to Essex. The last seals cost me £88 to do and all in for replacing small persuades hoses etc i was only £156 in total - better than at best £250 fuel.

My RR came from advanced bespoke range rover.
The guy specialists in taking preloaded range rovers and updating them to the 2012 body and working wonders with the interior, amongst fitting anything from a play station to full audio upgrade.
He claims to be a RR specialist but he isn't a garage that you can just pull up to a forecourt.

Today the engine light appeared back on. Unread the code and this time I only have P1172 on its own. Nothing else this time. I am out of warranty in 4 days with no chance of getting back to Essex.

Weird that I now only have one of the codes and it has returned after probably a safe 1500 miles of faultless driving.

Problem is finding the air leak that's causing this.

My local have went through every connection, hose and seal and found nothing wrong. When they monitor it live they can't get it to bring up the fault and according to the live data its running like the day it came out the factory.

There's your problem. With these filters the engines often throw up faults as this engine was never designed for k&ns. Mine has done the same and the light will come and go. 2009 Vogue TDV8 Nara Bronze
