Petrol's cheap

Hi All,

Just a quick musing...

I'm sure that most of us petrol owners have that odd twinge of perhaps wanting for a diesel due to the cost of fuel, I know I do occasionally.

But I just remember that my V8 petrol cost me possibly £5000 less than the cheapest TDV8 I could see at the time. And the amount of miles I do, even if the TDV8 did twice the mpg of the petrol (which it doesn't) it would take me 7 years to break even Rolling with laughter

Cheers

I expect that duration would be a lot less if you sold the vehicle though, as it would be worth more when you sell the diesel.
That isn't the point, petrol is clearly much better.

Dito Petrol rules all the way Thumbs Up ...( says an owner of 4 x V8's Mr. Green ) If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

As pointed out in the previous post - Your maths are flawed. the TDV8 will still be worth thousands more in 7 years time.

I run a V8 petrol, but with LPG at 65p a litre so none of this bothers me. Mr. Green

What? Sell my Range Rover? Are you mad? Very Happy

Actually I'm again exploring the LPG route as I've found out there is actually somewhere to get it now where I live. Wasn't worth doing last year but the return at the moment is a bit sooner as prices of fuel have changed.

Cheers

why does everyone worry about "sell on" value ??

buy the car you want,, run it, change it when u want....
better still...if your self employed, claim 25% per year for 4 years... free use of "RSW" all comms to anyone nearby

Unnecessary quote removed

I don't give sell on value a seconds thought. What i was pointing out was the before and after flaw in the price difference calculations.

Hi Destructimo,

To be honest it is down to personal choice. I mulled over the choices alot before I got the V8 petrol. Shock horror, I even had a Sport as a hire car for a while (what a pile of Censored ). Diesel is great and probably the sensible option, but how much fun do you want to have? It comes at a cost, but the V8 S/C Petrol is one amazing machine and always puts a smile on your face. I currently have a 4.2 with a BRC LPG system and I will upgrade to a 5.0 at some point. No point in doing this too soon as my current car is great and replacement prices are silly (well on the Stealers website they are).

And 0.69p a litre at my local BP. 2.5 tonne rocket with all the refinements and decent MPG taking into account the low cost of LPG, no brainer!

Cheers,

Andy. SDV8 AB MY 2019

Steptoe.... my comment was not aimed at you... just pointing out people in general..
everyone seems concerned with sell on value,s rather than just enjoying your car for what it is.

just my humble opinion but,,,, diesels are for commercials and petrols are for the more refined motor's free use of "RSW" all comms to anyone nearby
