Transafe fail prog error please help...

Hi, ive had this message come up a couple of times now since owning my TD6 and i have to switch off for 30 sec then back on and its ok. The gearbox seems to shift smoothly and not noticed any clonks etc. The hill decent and low range also work fine with no problems. The car has done 106k miles now. What could the possible causes be? as per my other thread would you recommend an oil and filter change for the gbox. Thanks

I had this problem driving me mad anyways I took out the battery after 10mins and found abut of corrosion by the transfer box ecu so i got another ecu plus the harness from transfer box and ecu and also cleaned up the terminals between below the ecu and touch wood everything seems to be ok after 3k miles.

As well as above, it can do it when the battery starts to fail....

Get the codes read, it should have stored something to give you an idea... Pete

Thanks, I didn't think there could be anything majorly wrong with the gearbox as over the last 6 months it has only done it 3 times.

It trips this fault when the input and output speed sensors don't agree with each other (or a worn battery!!)

Mine only did it when off roading in low box, did it a few times... then gearbox went Kaput...!!!

Did take 16,000 miles though..... Pete
