France 2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Buckingham Blue

as for gps, hence my will to put it behind the plastic grill for better signal.
of course the lighter itself doesn't eat anything. I havent been clear but what I meant is that I would connect a cigar plug of this kind

and then attach a usb cable that goes to the gps tracker
here's my tracker model.

You could always use a device such as a power magic pro box, that I bought along with my Blackvue. This ensures that the device switches off should the voltage fall below a certain threshold and so not drain the battery! Piggy back fuse off a permanent live supply in any of the fuse boxes. Previous cars:
S-Max 2007-2013 (only diesel I've had, good car but expensive when diesely bits go wrong, so what's the point?)
Galaxy 2001-2007
Mondeo Estate 1997-2001
Sierra Estate 1993-1997
Uno Turbo 1987 -1993
Fiesta 1984 - 1987
Fiat 127 1982 - 1984

Sorry - I thought you were asking 2 different questions.

It looks like it would be fairly low power consumption, but it's not completely clear - it does stage very low power consumption though Thumbs Up

I would be tempted to try to get it in the overhead light space by the sunroof & cable as Craig suggested - I have no idea how much space is in there though....

I had that tracker you linked to above several years ago in a vehicle, it wasn't bad but has an internal GPS and phone aerial, this one is much better and it's what I have fitted... signals are much better even with the aerials buried within the car, it has loads of extra features but if you use it as a straightforward tracker you only need a permanent 12v and an earth.

There is also an app available to send it instructions so you don't have to remember what to text, and a remote to turn it on to save having to text it...

It works just as they say, I have fitted them to every car I've had in the last few years and they have always been reliable and worked fine....

Power consumption is negligible, it won't flatten the battery in two weeks....

If you are fitting a GPS, it will need clear line of sight to the sky, while you can cover it with the dash board etc, it will not like you much if it has any metal above it, and probably refuse to function. They are normally placed behind the dash below the windscreen, so that it can receive the signal from above without the roof or the bonnet shielding it, Oh and keep it away from speakers Thumbs Up
Look at it like a sat nav, they fix to the windscreen, when they look up there is no metal above them Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Ok thanks for the link, I'll keep you posted about how installation and function of the gps works.
About the plug for the phone, I haven't figured out what i'll do.

Also of interest, where do you fix you phone, do you have pictures?

Thanks 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand
