| Loud 'clack' from front of engine | |
My 4.4 V8 2004 has started making a loud clacking noise - random, sometimes a single clack, sometimes double, 4-5 times a minute. It sounds like someone is hitting the water pump with a hammer, so it is quite loud.
Not the timing chains (listening with a large screwdriver) the noise is loudest from the water pump. The pump bearings seem ok. I wondered if there was a solenoid/relay shouting at me or something broken off in the water pump.
I have no idea, though, and cannot see a thread on this.
Anyone able to help?
