Helping out on a another thread i found this in my list of faults that I never investigated as i wasn't having any problems:

Quote:
“3505 Unknown (Engine)”
Glow plug relay failure - glow relay defective. This one should be investigated if your engine is hard to start when cold.

Time to check this out, seems to make sense as I have a starting up only issue ? .

Yes - I did ask the question earlier

9 times out of 10 , diesels struggling to start in the winter is either a battery not up to the job or glow plug issues.

It is getting worse, 6/7 chatatas before starting now Embarassed

I read & cleared & read faults with IIDTool and this keeps coming back:

Quote:
“3505 Unknown (Engine)”
Glow plug relay failure - glow relay defective.

but I have had this as a fault since I got the IIDTool Wink .

It'll manage to start ok in the warmer weather

the cold has shown the fault up to be genuine

Not had it in previous years, even when -12 degrees, and it is the same even with a hot engine? .

Yes, it was two knackered fuel injectors.

I did a leak test to find them (which ones) and Dan at Duckworths happened to have some injectors in a sale of the century.

Leak test and replacing injectors covered elswhere by me on forum. Also my failed attempts to replace glowplugs Shocked still have three new glow plugs available for £15 each Wink .

Magic, thanks. That's pretty much what I was thinking then. Started with turning over a bit longer than it should in the summer, so I don't think it's glow plugs.

Will have to get some diagnosis done.....
