wheel geometry

Here's an interesting one.

Took my car into the local tyre fitters to get an alignment check.

My car has an 02 plate on it so the techy set it up as a 2002 - 2005.

I took the dog for a walk and when I got back it was "all done sir" I noticed the 2002 - 2005 title on the invoice and challenged it.

The techy said "they are the same" as if he knew a bit about Land Rovers, I relied that if he knew so much it would be obvious that it was not a 2002??

Anyone know if the set up detail is much different? I don't want to go back all guns blazing if they are in fact the same?

There does appear to be a difference, the later cars are different depending on the engine as well....

2002-2005

2006 onwards

they are different but I would check against the figs pete has put up and see if it falls in the stated ranges. Thumbs Up there are quite large +/- ranges to each setting so as long as its in that stated range it should be OK. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thanks Pete

I think the guys that use this type of equipment don't work as accuatly as this!! I took it back and they got it back on the machine (a hunter computerised expensive looking thing!) and they had a re-tweek and said it should be OK?

Check the settings on the sheets Pete posted and see if they are in tolerance. There is a difference but its not massive and if they are near the centre of the range then it should be OK, the main one for the front is the Toe setting, they can't play around with the camber and castor on the front wheels, it needs a special too to adjust the top mount. The rear camber and toe can be adjusted though.

They are normally pretty good there. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

It was done on an all singing and dancing "Hunter" machine. Just spoke to someone who knows the machine and he says that its worth getting it re-checked.

Booked in to have a re-check.
