Thanks for that RRPhil.
There is too much confusion over the different brands. Whilst they all might do the job to a certain extent, is it worth the chance and end up with needing a gearbox re-build?
Looks like it is the Lifeguard 6 then.

Personally , I'd not risk anything other than what's in it now .
I'm in the process of "watering down" my old zf fluid , and unless I was doing a full strip down including hoses and cooler and could ensure all the old fluid was out there is no way I would risk mixing it .

To save $200 or whatever it costs extra to buy the lifeguard seems false economy to me .

but then again , I'm one of them guys that doesn't buy the cheap petrol either .......

Oil supplier

Got my oil from here:

http://www.lubricantsupplies.co.uk/

The proper stuff (Mobil) - 20 litres in Oct 2014. Just been on their site and still advertising 20 litre drum. They were very helpful and prompt. Current: 2004 Vogue 4.4 V8 - 2004 Discovery 2

With regards to the OP. lrparts.net do service kits which include lifeguard 6, their 1l bottles are £11.50+VAT separately. So whilst not a 20l bottle works out about the same, there is some shipping as well having just ordered a bunch of service stuff for both the RR and Defender.

I would have gone with Steve but lrparts did work out cheaper for genuine parts than he did unfortunately so went with them. Now just need a break in the weather to do both vehicles, oh how I wish I was back on the farm with all the barn space and pits. Big Cry Ed

@Sako243.
That is a good price for the lifeguard 6. Cheapest I found was from Bristol Transmissions @ £12.50 + the dreaded vat.
Altogether a £55 saving on the same items that I was ordering.
Thanks for that.

^ That stuff might be the equivalent or approximation of Lifeguard 5 but it certainly isn't Lifeguard 6 and should never be put in a ZF 6HP26 , probably OK for the 5HP24 but thats a risk each individual has to take Question 2008 MY Supercharged

Yes sorry you are quite correct Axle, I was confused with the 5HP and we are talking 6HP. Liqui moly have suitable fluid for all the FF transmissions.
Looking back through the posts the Mobile 20L drum is what threw me as well the LT 71141 spec on the drum, I would be checking that as I dont think this is correct for the Life Guard 6 specifications, LT 71141 is Life Guard 5 spec.

My mistake for posting the picture of mobil LT 71141, it was for my gearbox which is a 5HP24 .
