Terraclean and ReMap

Having used my local garage for a free 15 minute diagnostic session, I have booked my car in for a Teraclean next week, they also do Quantum Remapping via the ECU, the cost is only £250, this is very cheap compared with others I have seen on our forum. Does anyone have any knowledge of Quantum ReMap?

Thanks for the replies. Steveo, do you know how they did it, downloaded a file via the port, or did they have to open the ecu and fit a chip, or adjust the ecu setting. The reason I question the cost is, the last 2 Landrovers I had remapped, a Discovery 3 and a Discovery 4, cost me in the region of £500 each.

I have seen members posting that they have paid £600 and say it is worth every penny.

Pvw10 how was the remap done on your car, I like the sound of a proper place, But I think most remap's require a laptop to interigate the data on the cars ecu and make the adjustments.

As regards a "proper place" vs "laptop chappy", bear in mind, most tuners have mobile dealers and all that's required to load the map is a laptop while the file is written by the tuner at their place, so don't assume it has any bearing on the quality of the map. Equally, even a place with a full dyno can do a shoddy job.

Personally, I would be wary so would always choose a trusted LR tuning specialist like BAS and Alive etc. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I meant the type who turn up in there own car and do the job not the pro guys.

Anybody can buy maps both good and bad, any tuner can tweek said maps also, you pays your money. I chose a local reputable tuner whom came recommended on LR forums and was VERY familiar with tdv8s Many thanks

It was done by the obd port they down load your current map send it of to the tuners who then send over a improved map that they install they keep your original map on file in case you want it returned to standard

Hi Mikey, followed your posts over on the Disco forum over the years. The reason I am having a Teraclean is to (in my mind) start from a clean slate. My December 2011 4.4 has only got 30k on the clock, and I am doing a lot of short stop start journeys, probably total 5-6k per year. I had the DPF full light come on last week, took it for 200mile round trip up the motorway, when it finished regenerating I had quite a bad miss fire and the car seemed to loose its low down performance.
I took it for an Italian tune up yesterday and that has sorted it out. I just fancy letting them clean the system out.
