6HP26X multi plug leak

Typical, I don't drive the FF for a week and this afternoon when I popped back to let the dog out I notice a puddle underneath it.

Looks like its the multiplug O ring. I suspect I know the answer but can this be done in situ without having to drain and refill oil again? From Phil's teardown it looks like you need to pull a tab after removing the sump. Ed

That's what I suspected. Thanks for confirming Mikey. Oh well give it another oil change whilst I'm at it then, better check how much I have left over from the one a short while ago... Ed

I have the same symptoms. Is there a post/details for the repair somewhere?

Phil's mentioned it over here

You need to do an oil change, i.e. drain the oil, remove the sump, replace the sleeve as per Phil's post, and then refill according to the ZF procedure. Ed

No worries, the ZF procedure is over on disco3.com (hopefully that link works from my mobile).

Ordered the bits and some extra oil today so if they arrive before the weekend guess what I'll be doing...

(That's right, fitting L322 seats into a 110! Ah but that's a different story)

If I come across any gotchas I'll try and remember to post them. Ed

Well job done, only difficulty was that the sleeve is in a difficult location. Old one came out no trouble at all one the latch was released. Pushing the new one in was a little tricky. You must line up the notch on the sleeve which is about 5 o clock on the gearbox.

Even then I couldn't close the latch, I made sure everything was lubed up with a bit of vaseline but no joy. I then resorted to a piece of cardboard over the sleeve and then some gentle pressure with a large flat crow bar. It moved in a further millimeter and then the latch shut easily.

So in summary it's a tight fit but do not force the latch, once the sleeve is in place it closes ridiculously easily. So if you feel any resistance the sleeve isn't seated properly. Similarly the sleeve doesn't take a huge amount of force to push in, I just couldn't get quite enough on it with just my fingers, hence a bit of applied Newtonian physics.

Oh and use a garden sprayer, makes filling the gearbox a lot easier... Ed
