Key ?

Sounds like your car battery may be flat...... happened to me once when the alternator gave up & took the battery with it

Mine does that very occasionally. I believe the sensor is in the driver's A pillar, so hold the key up neat the window and see if that helps. Otherwise it may have gone out of sync. In which case, open the door with the key and resync it. Instructions in the wiki I think.

Ah, that's a problem. Mine did that, but luckily the remote fob worked so I could fix it. Clearly when you get it open you MUST fix the physical locking/unlocking issue!

You could keep trying the remote, but if that doesn't work and the key doesn't work then I'm out of ideas. I expect a car locksmith would have tools that would allow him to open it with the interior handle - I've had it done on my old Porsche 928 - but I wouldn't post details in public.

Are you sure the car isn't just flat?

In which case you need to get some juice onto it. There are several ways of doing this. If you have a tow socket then you can connect a charger via this and an adapter, I think it is also possible to add juice by connecting a charger to the main feed on the starter as this is direct from the battery, though I would look into that further.

I think it has had the battery drained somehow and hasn't got enough power to activate the locking. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I have a tow socket, do you know how I would charge from that?

Do you have twin electrics ?

You need the grey socket

Wiring diagram here - so you can put a meter across 3 & 4 and read the voltage. If needs be, you can also charge the battery using the same 2 terminals

Have a good sniff around the bonnet area first & make sure there isn't a smell of burning. With mine, the alternator diode went - so the battery treats the alternator like a motor - so it burns out & drains the battery completely.....

If as Alistair says the voltage is low across the 3/4 terminals you can make up a cheap adapter using an old 12s plug and some wire and terminal blocks to those terminals in the plug, then connect this to your charger.

Check the voltage first, as it should open with even a pretty dead battery. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I only have single socket. Would that be different?
