The problem is, like in the car industry, weight.

Everything is getting lighter. Cars are getting lighter, but folks still want big vans so they have to get lighter too.

Which means that everything gets pared down to the bare minimum in the mass market vans.

I went in the new Elddis Avante 866 the other day and it just seemed basic. The features were there but the whole thing seemed to lack finishing touches, all of which add weight.

Now on the other hand they are adding stuff like central heating to more expensive vans and what are basically mini combi-boilers to the vans. Great but over complex!

Don't get me wrong in my perfect world I'd have an airstream towed with a 5.0sc L405. But life isn't that kind so I have to make do with a slightly leaky 2010 Lunar and a 4.4 L322..... Rolling Eyes oh well it's not that bad really... Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ

My Buccaneer is played at 2000kg and has more gadgets than you can shake a stick at! Underfloor heating for example, all weight as you say but you still don't notice it on the back of a 4.4.... Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Hi Stu,
Yes, it's probably as long as you get for a single axle. It's based on an Alko delta chassis, which is rare for the U.K. I believe.

Yes, it's an Adria Isonzo Platinum. It's 8.250 metres long with a 8 ft wide body.

Wow, I knew it looked long! It like most European vans will have a long A-Frame I presume for stability. Be a piece of cake to manouver, unlike the twin axle which fights its wheels when reversing. Mind you driving a FFRR means it can fight all it wants, it'll always loose.... Laughing

Just to get things in context, my twin axle Buccaneer is : 8.140m long and 8' wide. Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE
