United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Santorini Black

Refurbed both my fobs just now and only took 20 mins to do both with genuine parts (LR052905) following instructions on this thread. Then just 5 mins to see why one didn't work. Yes I'd put the battery in upside down! Laughing

Scotland 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Fuji White

Hi,

I know this is a really old thread but I've been down a few dead ends and you guys will know exactly what I'm talking about. Westie 2012 2nd Key.

I have only 1 key for my car, same as the one in the original thread, stole you pic Stan.

I've contacted a couple of folks from EBAY and so called auto locksmiths, who claim to be able to do this but given their replies I think they're just scamming me.

So I want a 2nd key, I don't need the physical blade, just the wireless functionality and once I've got it I need it pairing to my car.

I went to the stealers and my local Indy, once the shopping list got to £300 I gave up listening, but the potential pitfalls, i.e. scrambling my ECU, need to buy a whole new bundle if it went wrong etc I kind of just gave up.

I'm sure there must be a simple, affordable and more importantly reliabe way to get a 2nd key enabled for a 2012 Westie as a just in case spare, anyone know where I can source one and who could programme it for me in West / South Gloucestershire area, happy to travel.

Any feedback, most welcome

There is an affordable way.

2010-2012 and 2006-2009 cars are easy to programme new remotes for (albeit done in different ways).

For 2010-2012, a 2nd fob can be programmed with the IID tool.

If you don't have one, find a friendly forum member with one and pay GAP for a 2nd VIN.

Unprogrammed remotes can be found on ebay, Amazon and AliExpress for less than £100.

The process takes minutes. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Could you report back if successful or not Andy? I have a similar need, dealership told me £700 for parts (as said needed a new module as well as key, as no way to programme third key for any one module). With labour guessing there won't be much change from £1k so will just be careful with the key...

Any good auto locksmith can make you a 2nd remote key, or get yourself an GAP IID tool and a blank remote and do it at home yourself for half the price - and then you also have an IID tool. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Sounds great thanks, i have the Gap IID, they said something about post-2011 cars' modules being locked to two key ids. Cheers for the info i will look into that 👍

Make sure your IID is up to date. Plug it into your car and under the service menu, you'll see the programme key function. A blank remote with transponder is about £90 on Amazon/ebay. Then you can programme it with your IID tool and just get the key blade cut at your local locksmith. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Ireland 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 V8 Zambezi Silver

Gary do you want to visit Ireland most beautiful scenery which is world renowned and maybe through the ole gap tool in the bag?!

Its one of my next purchases, I bought the spare key from a UK crowd, full electronics and Genuine spec fob for £28 but no way to program it yet. If I buy the gap tool from the UK it can cost as much as €800 but I have found an Eu supplier and its €650 maybe, still an awful lot when I already have a good Autel. It'll have to be done though. Current yokes

Lot more expensive, might be worth jumping on Ryanair for £30 and picking one up!

I have been looking for a new key to programme, anyone know when (or if) the internals changed? Seems to be a lot of part numbers, mine is a 2012. Ideally wanted a genuine unit.

Would the following work or does it need to be L322 specific?

Hi RovingCanary

I bought my key for my 2012 Westminster from the below UK company. Though I havent bought the Gap tool yet to program it from you tube videos and a bit of research this is the correct key for the 2012, its the 433Htz one

https://accessfobs.co.uk/collections/landr...47-pcf7953

You'll see from their page that they do the newer keys and the older. all keys include electronics. Current yokes

I just took the guts out of my old big key fob shaved a bit off the circuit board and put it in a new case I bought from Ali Express and it worked fine - it even says Range Rover on it. Geoff
