Removal of rear Wiper/washer Motor: How To with Pics

One of my washer jets will not spray water any longer and despite inserting a sewing needle into them it doesn't seem to have any effect.

I might look to remove the arm and washer jet assembly from the vehicle and check it over, clean it thoroughly etc.

I can see there are 3 bolts that hold the plastic spoiler above it (with the rear 3rd brake light) and then you can get at it. Has anyone done this already and knows if there are any gotchas involved? THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :

as I looked in Rave there seems to be exactly what you need. Remove the three bolts, close the tailgate and move spoiler aside.

When I had this problem it was sorted under warranty. They claimed to have "reset" the washer system.

I presume reset is the new phrase for "stick a needle in the hole"

Let us know what you find when you get it apart. I have a feeling I'll need to do this job in the future too.

I've done the needle in the holes trick and its made no difference at all.

Looks like you need to remove the interior trim at the top centre of the glass to access the pump, motor and pipes (If you need to look at all of the working parts) and I'm nervous about that as I don;t have a trim removal tool and know I will break something. THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :

This issue has come and gone a few times but now it needs fixing. Hardly any water is coming out of the nozzle but I've noticed water is obviously collecting in the rear trim where the washer wiper motor is, and then running down the inside of the rear window! (Seems to happen when I accelerate from a standstill)

Looks like I'll be taking it apart afterall, fingers crossed I don't break any of the plastic trim clips.

Anyone got any tips on how NOT to break trim when prising apart, what tool to use etc? THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :

I think that tool works for things like door cards etc, but the plastic trim in the top tailgate seems to be clipped together, you know the type, go together very well, snap together jobs, but when you want to remove they break, like the rear light cluster!

If I get time this weekend I'll have a go and document it with the help of Rave.

There will be pics of course! THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :

Dismantled the inner trim surrounding the rear wiper motor/washer, found the problem. Seems the motor has sprung a leak from the centre spindle, no chance of repair, replacement needed. guess a trip to the dealer tomorrow, hopefully not an expensive part.

The part is not extortionately expensive but sadly I can't seem to find anyone who sells it other than the Dealer. £126 inc VAT.

At least its an easy enough swap out and there's not 2 hours labour added on. Big Cry THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :

Nbunney, this is a RR forum, not a Jag forum!!

I've contacted CWS, lets see if they respond.

I'm only joking with you Whistle

I found a few places breaking range rovers but then you do run the risk of the 2nd hand part also expiring like the one on your own car did!

I'll let you know how it goes.

PS: I do appreciate the help Thumbs Up THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :
