Tracker to get insurance for a FFRR?

I am picking my FFRR up next Sunday. So went to my current insurance, Privilege, and ask them for a quote.
They came back with 560.- for my wife and me but said I had to have prove that the car has a tracker fitted otherwise they would not insure the car???? Sad
I asked why this would be and was told that those cars are being targeted to be stolen and shipped out of the country by container. That left me with a warm fuzzy feeling.... Shocked
Anyway, went online and finally bought a esure policy with hire car and legal protection for me and wife with 6 years no claims and me 6 points for 411.-
I think that is a reasonable price and never mind a tracker.

Privilege asked me for a tracker on my RRS when I got it but admiral didn't so went with them Thumbs Up

Year later Privilege said I didn't need it and were cheaper than admiral so went back Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Mr P, Admiral multi car policy, no tracker required, that's odd. 03 4.4 V8 petrol / lpg. 1st of many hopefully. I love my Rangie

Direct Line wanted a tracker on mine when I changed from a Vectra VXR to the FFRR and said it was fine if I had an accident but wasn't covered if stolen.
I also used the comparison sites and ended up with Admiral as well, as they were cheaper and didn't want a tracker fitted.

Could your postcode have a bearing on whether they want a tracker or not?

It's done on value. Anything over 50k and they expect a tracker. This is my fourth, and only FFRR, that did not require me to have one fitted! Land Rover Addict

Sorry DMRR but I don't think that's strictly true, I don't have and was not asked to fit, a tracker on mine. 12MY Black FF VSE

I'm with Admiral and no tracker was required either, just factory alarm and immobiliser. Tom

i insure mine, and the wifes golf GTi and my XKR convertible thru my company traders policy but i had to have a tracker on the range rover as it was over £70K
"all in all" it was still worth fitting taking into account the premiums i would have paid for all the cars ..
oh... they wouldn't tag on my honda fireblade or harley davidson v rod as they said it wasn't classed as a company vehicle Big Cry
