Stan, that's what you say... Mr. Green

Seriously, glad I read this as I've just ordered said gas-strut kit from Dan this morning. Si. <This is my name.

Thanks for that, never thought of looking under the covers. Thumbs Up
Minor corrosion starting but nothing serious, good coat of oil on the fittings and wire rope will see them going for a good few years yet.

that looks more like corrosion due to differing metal surfaces being in contact with each other.

Lots of PSA cars suffer the same stuff where the rear alloy calliper is bolted to the steel metal frame and it builds up so much the caliper ends up off at a 30' angle.... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I'm going to fit one of these instead. They've been around for over 100 years and still going strong

Due to adding the lower tailgate gas-strut at the weekend, I had cause to remove one of my 10 year-old straps, fully expecting the much reported rust.

And both straps were virtually rust-free!

Had to replace one due to the strut fitting, but dripped some 3in1 oil down both ends of the rubber outer sheaths with the tailgate at 45' as a precaution. Si. <This is my name.

It's for all the FFRR owners who have limp wrists and don't have the strength to lower the tailgate Laughing Laughing
