The pulley is noticeable for about 2 weeks, then it gets coloured up and looks stock. I doubt a dealer is going to pull it off in the event of a warranty claim.

Really don't bother with the remap. There's a guy who is fitting twin screw kenne bell superchargers to our engines and getting 600+ bhp with the stock ecu.

If you do get it done, get the supercharger belt done at the same time to prevent slip.

Thanks!

I've found a local Jaguar specialist and tuner who advertises the many S/C modifications and I had a long chat with him earlier. His prices are more reasonable and he knows the engines well.

He made an interesting point regarding the belt and oil. JLR, in their often infinite widsom have 'sealed' the S/C itself for life as with gearboxes. This chap says that at around 70,000 miles, the S/C's oil is pretty contaminated and WILL need changed to preserve performance and life. Si. <This is my name.

Yup, I had my oil in the sc done at the same time as the pulley. It's a similar job to bleeding brakes, just needs bigger syringes Smile

I probably need to get the SC oil done as well. Not only time but also the heat here are not great for the oil.

Better start diving into the workshop manual again Smile

Damn, should have done it when they were cleaning the injectors !!! MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Another interesting tip the Jaguar chap told me regarding remaps on S/C's:

Apparently, some models will display an Error P0420 or 430 'Catalyst Inefficiency' message post-remap. According to the information given to me about this, the ECU has a VERY fine tolerarance for emissions values and even if out by a tiny amount, this message gets thrown up.

The engine check light illuminates and there is absolutely NOTHING wrong other than the tiniest degree of emissions over the pre-set values. Well within MOT guidelines, though.

The feeling is that this can be cured by injector cleaner and / or decent qualility fuel. The error can be frequent or very intermittent and it doiesn't affect all S/C's who have received remaps.

Has anyone who has had their S/C remapped experienced this? Si. <This is my name.

For me this is the safe option that I shall probably go for as it appears, from cruising various Jaguar and American forums, that the RR supercharger is the Eaton M112 (I may be wrong). Anyway, this stuff apparently does the trick for all Eaton blowers.

I shall call the suppliers tomorrow to find out more.

The eBay link for the oil is from Powerhouse in Sheffield, who are the guys who did my SC oil and pulley change.

I had a code thrown after my remap, cleared it with IIDTool and not had it since. The ECU takes the hint i guess. However I still think a remap is only needed if you make catalyst changes.

The guy with the twin screw is on the 4.0 and 4.2 engines and goes by the name of Avos on a load of jaguar forums. I'm still debating whether to go for a twin screw conversion or not, it's so temping but also so unnecessary. My RR absolutely hoons everywhere apart from the motorways, where it suffers from being as aerodynamic as Johhny Vegas when there's a headwind about.

This remap thing is my biggest conundrum.

The Jaguar specialist that mine will go to for the work has said that he offers clients to have the pulley done without the remap and then, after a few days, to install the remap for a free trial period after which he'll either remove it or the customer pays.

His comment was that he's never yet had to remove the new map. Si. <This is my name.
