They are absolutely amazing offroad ... The portal axles give great clearance and they have on board compressors so you can inflate/deflate the tyres whilst in the cab.

We have a rr classic running on unimog axles in Kenya and it is unstoppable off road ... And on .... The brakes don't work very well ... Whistle African Bush Junkie ... in London!

If its used for work i.e trees or delivering logs etc and its registered as a tractor you have no problems i dont think
And driving one is like a series land rover just with better brakes
Give one a try at atkinson vos they are specialists onto no6 Range Rover

Ha ha that wee thing looks a right laugh! I could get it in the garage and tow it to events and just be ready to get drenched!! Bet it could easily be made to float as well!!

Are they normally road legal?!?

Nope Gary doubt it will ever be a daily or second car but I love to dream Smile wonder if you can get merc experience days in them... It would be nice if I got a few bob to have one and just have it as a hack about the estate kind of vehicle. With the pto it would be great for woodwork Smile

Those Crewcabs above do look great but i reckon bonnatti would be my color choice if not balti blue Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Cheers Mark will have to look them up Smile

The pinz looks a better option, didn't realise any in a useable condition had been released for sale as they are quite hardy Censored according to troops reports compared to a wolf Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

KP, I'm with you on this one - LEAVE HIM ALONE YOU 'ORRIBLE LOT !

Have a go in one - they're an absolute giggle. If you're looking for one, make sure it's got sensible ratios and is not "agri" spec - they're super crawlers !

I reckon you're better off going for a Steyr Pinzgauer . . . . . 2/3 scale Mog

or even a

Steyr Puch Haflinger . . . . 1/3 scale Mog

This is ours ! - &feature=plcp - now in bits awaiting restoration -

Thumbs Up

^^^ Thumbs Up

I have driven all of the above during my time in the Swiss army.

As far as off-road strength goes, my recommendation would be the following:

1.) Haflinger Best off road of the lot by a long shot
2.) Pinzgauer 6x6
3.) Pinzgauer 4x4
4.) Unimog

The Unimog can be adapted best to serve different tools. But it is also closer to a truck than a car. If I would be looking for an off-road vehicle that does it all, I would look at e Pinzgauer 6x6

I may lose a few features i've grown used to Wink

Upside is lorries wouldn't think before trying to argue with me anymore, they just wouldn't bother Very Happy

The small mini one looks like a right good laugh and cheap way to offroad for pennies, though would prefer some protection from the elements Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Have you seen the price of those ruddy things John!?!?

A guy i know restores them as a side business as he loves them but he wont offroad them! He batters an old shogun about and when it fails it gets repaired if under £XXX and if not gets stripped and another one in his yard used! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Cheers Martin Smile

Very tempting but i think the work would be well beyond my abilities as the engine would be out straight off for a diesel one instead of that petrol unit and the body needs a good session with a sander to see what rust really needs to be attended too Smile

Looks nice though for someone with the space to work on it or at least use its guts for another project Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
