Replacing sidelight bulbs with LED's

My FFRR is the MY2006 facelift. I got fed up looking at the yellow bulbs in the sidelights, they looked out of place next to the white headlights. So I have eventually gotten round to changing them to error free LEDs. I bought some then someone posted about a better type, so I bought them. The shorter ones I will use somewhere else, the longer ones are the type I fitted.

I have light guards fitted. 4 screws and off they come.

These blocks are screwed onto the wing. Thankfully plastic so no rust worries.

Next remove the front grill. There are 3 bolts along the top to remove then the grill just lifts up.

Watch out for the temperature sensor behind the badge on the grill. It just unclips.

The headlight is now exposed.

Unscrew the 2 screws at the top of the headlight

And unscrew the 1 at the bottom

The headlight is now loose and can be moved forward or removed. To remove, unclip the wiring connector.

Twist off the lower round cover to expose the sidelight bulb.

The bulb just pulls out of its holder.

Replace with the new led. It's best to switch the sidelights on to make sure the bulb has been fitted the correct way round. If it does not light, just turn it round. Push it back into its hole.... Remember to put the round cover back on ! Whistle

Refitting is just the reversal of the above. The headlights will go back in the same place, so no need to worry about alignment. Remember to clip the temp sensor back in.

The finished result.

I wish I had done it earlier now. This must be one of the cheapest and most effective mods for the FFRR.
Go do it now !

Easy to do just ensure you put it in at 120 if using a fan oven for 8 mins. Make sure lught doesn't touch of sidof oven.put it on a pizza tray coverd in a tea towel. Make sure you remove all bulbs ad ballast before cooking Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

Worth noting that some LED bulbs only work if the polarity is the right way around, so before re-fitting the headlamps check both sidelights work... Whistle
