Just watched the YouTube video and that is a brilliant idea.

However, he did look like he'd benefit from placing a gardening kneeling mat under the wheel to help him more easily slide that heavy wheel onto the hangers Laughing

I've ordered this

not sure if the rod will be long enough but for the price worth a try

Yes, I saw lots of listings for that company but was not aware of the exact thread needed.

That said, my car has bolts coming out of the hub, so from the look of these, they would be unsuitable as you would need a female end to go on hub bolt.

Could be wrong of course...... Keep us posted.

Yes, whatever is on the hub side would have to pass back through the hole in the wheel, or you'd never get it off without taking the wheel off again after you've aligned it.

Just a female sleeve long enough would do, but you'd need to have the inner side threaded to suit the stud.

In fact, thinking about it, you could just use a bit of tube so long as it went through the hole in the alloy and over the stud on the hub. You'd have to be careful not to damage the stud thread or leave the wheel on it for too long, as it wouldn't be attached to the car, but it would act as a guide whilst you got a wheel nut on....... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I might be missing something here then.....

So..... What would you do with it once you've cut the head off ?

You would still be left with a bolt stud and a bolt stud on the hub. You will still need a female tube of some sort.

The car has a bolt stud on it. I imagine the goal here is to artificially and temporarily make the stud on the car longer so you can drop the wheel on it easier.....

I recon we need the inside of a female tube with that thread, not the bolt stud. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

That's the proper tool.

In the listing, you can see that it has a female end that's threaded to go over the stud in the hub.
