Are we saying venture cam and dock are retrofitable? There are plenty of cams on fleabay but no docks.

I think I would find one v useful for hitching up. 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

Surely you could recharge the camera out of the car and then use it ? It is just a set of rechargeable batteries after all. 2011 4.4 TDv8 Vogue SE

Do the dock include everything or are there extra wires to order for 2011 cars?

I've already got a venture cam and the cars we are looking at have the vision assist packs but no dock.
I'd like this for hitching up and as a rear view caravan camera.

I suppose if you were crossing say a narrow bridge just wide enough for the car you could put it on the other side of the bridge, and use it to see if you're central.

Mounting it in a horse box makes sense, if you have a caravan you could mount it on the back of the caravan, you could mount it above your tow hitch for coupling up trailers.

I suppose it's like anything though, if you don't have a use for it, then it's a bit gimmicky. I expect someone once said cameras in mobile phones was a gimmick too.

Ok as most cars I'm looking at don't have this option and it is one we need we have started to get the venture cam parts.

I now have a dock available but would the wiring be on the car already? MY11-12?
Or would I need the loom too?

The dock is just a charger i think, so even if the wiring isn't there it wont be hard to run an ignition live and earth to it. The Camera links to the screen via bluetooth.

Does the camera link to the screen or does it link to the dock?

I thought it linked to the dock but I may be wrong. If that is the case then there won't be an issue installing the dock then as it'll just be an earth and ignition live then.

handbook talks about prioritising the venture cam when bluetooth is in use, so i would think it links to the screen/bluetooth module and the dock is just a charger.

my rangie came with the VC missing and it annoys me a tad, if im honest its a gimmick but its empty holder makes me twitch. when I sell the car I will make sure I have got one to go with the sale . seen some on ebay but they all seem a bit expensive.

hey if anyone has one to sell im interested ??

We need it as a reversing camera for the caravan and other trailers. We do a lot of towing solo so no one to guide us back.

SWMBO also says she can see what the horses are doing in the trailer or what the dogs are doing in the boot whilst on the road.
