TPM system.........again

Right, I've done a search but can't find anything that conclusively relates to my problem. This relates to my 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE. Due to severe corrosion of the chocolate TPM valve stems they were all replaced last year except the spare which seemed OK.

All has been fine until this week when the warning light started coming on intermittently with the occasional message 'check all tyre pressures'. The tyre pressures have been checked and rechecked using two gauges and are all OK. The message doesn't come up all the time and the light will come and go randomly every few minutes.

Is this likely to be the module situated in the luggage compartment fuse box or has anyone get any other ideas. I have a spare sensor but understand if I fit that to the spare it has to be programmed into the system as not rotating.

I had a problem last year when it went into the main dealer for something else. They told me they would have to fit new sensors and the programme them into the system but my local tyre shop said that was b***cks and was proved right. Coincidentally I got a call from the dealer Monday saying they knew I had a problem from when it was in their workshop and did I need to book it in to get it fixed. All resolved said I and next day..............I'm sure they've remotely hacked the system!

The antenna for the spare tyre (at least in the 2006 MY I have) is fitted in the trunk area so it picks up the signal of the spare tyre, i.e. it checks the spare tyre pressure. It even gives a separate alarm when the spare tyre pressure is too low (happened to me several times). On my 2006 MY SC the TPMS worked fine so I never touched it. On the 5.0 SC I don't know if it is activated, need to check when I get to the car next with my Faultmate.

The type of issue you describe sounds more like a general problem rather than the spare tyre sensor acting up. Still, if you have the new sensor, just stick it in and see if that helps. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Gets curiouser and curiouser. Long run at 70 mph on motorway and light goes off and stayed off for 40 miles. Start pootling around the lanes at lower speed and the light keeps coming on / off.

there are little antennas somewhere in each wheel arch that pick up the tpms signal, maybe one of those is loose and when you swing the FF round corners the signal is intermittently lost.. ... - .- -.

I had a similar intermittent problem for ages - good money after bad - replaced all the valves then a couple of the sensors and it was still happening.

I bought an IID tool, switched the bloody thing off & had the valves removed from the wheels - I've never regretted it Thumbs Up

This isn't going to help mush but I have the same problem - seems to be worse as the weather warms up for some reason. I have replaced the antenna in the spare wheel well to no avail but gave up at that point as the garage seemed intent on solving it by replacing one item at a time at my cost.

All ears if you get it fixed.

Sounds familiar Laughing

If the light is on for your MOT, then it will fail - that's why I took the plunge & bought an IID tool Thumbs Up

My TPMS worked perfectly, then I swapped my alloys for SC ones with new tyres and TPMS valves all round and ever since its 60:40 working/broken

I was a TPMS fan when mine was working, but now I think I will eventually buy an ID tool and turn it off... 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!
