Would this sort of mileage be an issue, turbos etc? Never owned a car that had over 100,000 miles before.

Normally it would depend how it was used, and the kind of service treatment it had had. short runs aren't good for them, but as can be seen from the service history, the car was used for slogging up and down motorways for a fair chunk of its life.

There is a lot of debate on the cause of turbo failure in thetdv8 have a search and you will see what people think. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

New Zealand 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Galway Green

There is another thread on here on the risk of turbo failure on the TDV8s. I initially bought one to only find out the dealer was fixing a turbo problem before delivering the car, having read all the horror stories I decided to pull out and buy a 5.0 SC.

Whether the turbos are very prone to failure, I don't think so but it seems that when one goes, there are other issues that crop up later. To me the fuel cost issue is non existent and I love the SC engines so the choice was simple.

If you really are worried about the turbos, even with the very low (I assume) likelihood of failure, don't do it or get a good insurance. I think if you maintain the car well, get the EGRs serviced regularly, give the car time to cool down after some hard driving by pootling the last miles, they should last for a long time.

My motto is, treat a car well and it usually lives forever.

High milers are usually highway milers and that is much better for a car in general, than short city trips.

And I agree with CTC and NMJ, this looks like a car that has been well taken care of Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I've parked the search for a petrol one, as this just looks so nice, even with the miles it's a cracking looking car. Just trying to work out how I can get to Fleet over the weekend, and how much to offer him so I don't cause an upset.

Send richtdv8 a pm as he put most of the miles on it. Nice fellow.

From memory in addition to having the alternator done it has had, turbo inter cooler hoses and a new top boot lid. I also remember putting a new battery in it at Le Mans a couple of years back as I happened to have taken a spare LR battery with me and we flattened it over the weekend!! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Sorry for the bumping of my own thread, I've exchanged a few messages with the seller and things are progressing. I've read the turbo threads re the TDV8 and whilst they make for a scary read, if it happens then so be it. Seems that prevention is better than cure so something to be aware of.

Seller seems like a genuine chap, so fingers crossed it shall soon be gracing my drive. Very Happy Very Happy

Off to see it tomorrow Razz . 300 mile round trip, so hopefully it will not be a wasted one.

Anything other than the usual L322 things I need to be looking for? I've looked at the wiki page.

Says it all really.

Anyone ever had an AA inspection done? Never spent this much on a private sale, so was thinking about using them?

Edited to add that the AA want £360 for a 4x4 inspection. Not cheap are they. Rolling Eyes

They still won't tell you if the turbos are ok, so personally I wouldn't bother. Put your money into a decent warranty. Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Quick search and warranty companies only allow up to 120,000 miles. Sad

Ah, right, same problem as me then. I'm at 150 000 miles.

Things is, the man from the AA will still not be able to tell you if your turbos are good, bad or about to call it a day. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
