United Kingdom 2004 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Giverny Green

Go look at a few more then you will get a feel for whats good and bad, i just bought one and it was the 6th one i saw, nearly bought the first as it was a nice car but decided to view a few more and ended up with what i think is the best one i would find in my price range. service history is a must, if partial then whats missing ? if its the cars early life say the first 3 years then i wouldnt be too worried as chances are it would have been done by land rover and very doutfull it wouldnt have been serviced at that age. If it more recent say the last 3-4 years then that would worry me much more. if theres any dout in your mind then walk away, theres plenty more out there...

Thanks for the advice guys.

I do like the car, but the history does worry me so I think I will keep looking.

Cheers

Very nice

However 20k+ is stretching the budget at the moment.

If the service book truly has just been replaced, the current owner should be able to get the mechanic who serviced it to print out what work was done and when. The mechanic/dealer won't give it to you, but would give it to the customer who paid for the work originally.

Not for me I'm afraid, but then I really do not like black painted wheels on a car. I thought you wanted a TDV8?

Yes I noticed this style of FFRR is somewhat marmite. Its not too far from us so I will take a look. No harm keeping a dealer busy.

From what I have been reading, a TDV8 will probably work out a more sensible choice in that it will be easier to sell whenever I decide to move on. Otherwise the running and maintaining shouldn't be too different considering I will only be doing 6k miles a year tops. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you and I were/are having the same thought process. I do 4000 miles a year and due to a change in job location this will be drastically reduced. My initial search was for a 4.2 s/c. Never even looked at diesels.

Then, during yet another ebay search I decided not to limit my search to petrol and found my TDV8. In the colour (both interior and exterior) I wanted with some options I also wanted. Still ummmmmed and ahhhddd a bit, but then decided that the car itself outweighed the petrol/diesel debate going on in my head.

Clearly, I will not be using it for work (which will be a mile up the road) equally I wouldn't have used a petrol version. Also, knowing that I change cars every six months I agree, the diesel may be somewhat easier to sell(however, I really do think this one is a keeper, until retirement in three years). I would also add, if you are considering ease in selling on, then I'd get the most standard one I could.
