Blocked Drain holes

Got in the car this morning found the carpet (drivers side) wet. I looked at the d/side wiper outside and found the recess around the spindle full of mud and grit upto the wiper spindle.
Removed the mud etc with a rag and small screwdriver, then proceeded to look for a drain hole, found it and the drain tube. Pulled this off and then fed a bit of telephone wire up to clear it.
Did the same with the drain pipe, then using a funnel poured some water down the drain tube and it came out on the road. Will check the other side when it stops raining here.

I then looked at the open sunroof frame but cannot see any drain holes for the rain to exit through. Ive done a search on here but there is no mention or picture of where the drain holes start up top, only from underneath.
Can someone tell me where they start relative to the sun roof.

Thanks
Peter

NB: when I moved the car there was a gurgling sound and a load of water appeared on the road.

on my old rr classic, the sunroof used to flood and drip in. there were two small drain holes in the roof tray around the sunroof panel. one was blocked, i found the culprit. it was pinched on the a post inside trim panel. i sort of squashed back to round shape, and tried it with water, and it worked.
if you know where is exits. you could try blowing/airline from the bottom up.

This is my old one before i fitted Vogue wheels, it used to fill up with water so badly that i ripped the carpets out and removed the floor plugs so it could drain. No sun roof so never found where it got in, maybe tired door rubbers. Ah happy times!!!.

Most sunroofs when fully open you'll see a couple of little holes in the corners. An airline down them normally clears them. Must admit not looked at the FF over as not had a problem but really can't be any more complicated, it's just a drain from a low point.. 2003 4.4 Adriatic Blue FF

Please dont use an airline they can blow off leading to you having to remove the headlining.
strimmer wire is usual weapon of choice. If you have a look at the inside of the sill you can see where the pipe exits. It has a sort of none return valve on the end.
There are a few threads on here about it but I have never found out if the drains are front and back. Mine was a blue one! Smile

That's a good idea Andy, although I only every use lowish pressure and never had a problem. 2003 4.4 Adriatic Blue FF

Thanks Andy, John boy and Lee,
I checked the n/s drain hole in front of the w/screen today, that seems clear, poured some water down it, all good.
Anyway got underneath to find these one way valves on the drain tubes, couldnt see/feel anything. Will have another read of the email/pics showing location after the weekend and have another go.

I did ours today, the passenger side is easy to get to underneath, but the drivers side is hidden under a plastic guard in front of the air reservoir. This panel can be eased out from under the sill, but the valve is a bit fiddly to get at.

I checked the drain holes on the sunroof ( right in the corners) and used some strummer cable to push through, then I got some wd40 with the extended nozzle and squirted that in the drain hole after pouring water in the sunroof channel and it not going anywhere, anyway, a bit of a squirt with wd40, huge gurgle and all the water disappeared!
Did the same with the passenger side. Very Happy

Great result Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
To be honest the drivers side is the only side i checked. I will check again tomorrow on both sides, thanks for the very useful feedback.

The striimmer cable is not really strong enough to get through I found, I was wondering if you can get hold of a can of the compressed air used for cleaning computer keyboards (PCs world I think do it) with an extended nozzle would work better. The sunroof drains are right in the corners.

UPDATE
Got under the car today and found the nearside sunroof drain hole, poked some telephone cable wire (2-3mm dia) up it all seemed clear. Went across to the drivers side (the suspension air tank is on this side), initially couldnt see anything, then noticed what i thought was a pad to stop the tank touching the side of the sill.
Realizing it was in the same relative position as the nearside I undid the 2 bolts that held the front of the tank to the car and allowed it to lower.
As i did that, what seemed like a litre of water poured out all over my head complete with black bits Censored Censored.
What a Censored design the tank wall was sealing the drain bung end, it must have been like this from day 1.

The solution that worked for me was:-
!/ I filed 2 slots at right angle to the existing slots in the tank bracket (so I could move it away from the outer sill wall and drain bung face.
2/ I also cut about 2-3 mm off the face of the bung.

As the second picture shows there is now about 6mm between drain bung face and tank side. Result!!!
