If you are going to buy a Range Rover make it count and buy the 5.0l supercharged.

I imagine we'll say bye to the SDV8 soon and see it replaced with the SDV6 as the 'premium' option.

I hope not because the SDV8 is capable of much more, with some tuning to the software it can be taken up to 400 BHP Shocked

However it is an ECU out job, so warranty would be void straightaway but it does highlight the potential of the SDV8.

Hopefully LR will listen, and give the SDV8 a boost in power in the L405 facelift. 2014 SDV8 Autobiography Cool

Had first new L405 in April '14..SDV8 ...... replaced in Sept '15 with new V8 SC.... Only minor issue with gesture tailgate in second (resolved myself). No other concerns...(dealer offered new Evoque at virtually trade price, which daughter ordered, in comp) But didn't have issues with the previous 4 X L322's !!

Whats your thoughts on the sdv8 modbarra and how does the SC drive in comparison ? tia.

After the Euro 6 revisions it's supposed to be around until at least 2018; the SDV6 is also pretty feeble in comparison with the German diesels.

It's just had a modest tweak, torque is up to 740 Nm now.

CAYMANBLACK :

The sdv8 very capable, not a slouch, will happily drive in town, respond when asked and excellent towcar...

However, the SC....... Again happy to potter around in traffic, shifts extreeeemly quickly... Superb towcar!! And in my mind drives totally different to my sdv8. When the SC was in re tailgate, dealer gave me their demo sdv8.. And the SC definitely felt different drive wise.

A big Upside, watching boy racers face when Range Rover pulling twin axle caravan leaves them at the lights....!

Thanks modbarra,. I really want the SC but at the same time there are far more SDV8s to choose from if not going new.
I will have to try them both.

I'm just about to collect my 3rd L405 Autobiography SDV8. You can read into that that I have not had reliability issues, in c.50,000 miles in two identical cars, one of which was the very first out of the local dealer upon launch.
The V8 is a sweet peach of an engine, for power, smoothness, and the sound!
