Steering column lock on 10MY+

Do the late models with keyless start still have a steering column lock that engages when the motor is switched off? Or was this only on the models with a mechanical ignition? 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black

Mine (MY10) has no steering lock. I'd imagine having no steering lock is a safety feature on cars without a mechanical ignition?

i'm sure they do. After switching off the engine if you wait until the the display goes off you can hear a mechanical noise as the lock engages.

My 2011 has a lock after I turn off, no idea how it works though.

I disabled my MY12's steering lock, not trusting the electronics to determine if the vehicle was no longer in use after learning about a MY07 when its alternator failed and rapidly discharged the battery. Not key-less but it still locked the steering whilst the key was in the ignition switch in the ignition-on position. I can't see any advantage in having steering locks in modern vehicles.

Unnecessary quote removed

Wow, the alternator failed in my 08MY a couple of years back so I guess I'm lucky that didn't happen to me. Steering the thing without servo assistance was still hard enough, though Laughing 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black
