United Kingdom 2018 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Loire Blue

Hi mate,
Not been around for a while
My car is being returned on Wednesday
Finance has been paid off and my deposit returned by dealer.
I am now waiting for the return of the payments I have made.
To be honest I can't fault the dealer on this issue.
Still gutted to be returning it.
Wot next this is the question.
Hope yours is sorted but I would be pressing for a rejection to be honest, this fault could be around for a while.
I wanted to order the new 2018 but dealer couldn't guarantee if the infotainment system would be OK the new one.

Well today i pushed the button to reject my FFRR.

It's been with Hunters since the 23rd June & they've applied a handful of updates, some with success & some the car refused to entertain. Finally today the LR Tech Dept, confirmed that 9 of my 13 issues are subject to Engineering Concerns relating to NGI (LR's words not mine). Translated that means they know the InControl Touch Pro system in many cars has known bugs.

LR have confirmed that a Software Release is being worked on & that it's expected before the end of July, however no confirmed date can be given, so with that much uncertainly & the fact i've totally lost confidence in my car, the current FFRR marque & the JLR brand overall, i've decided today to instigate a formal rejection.

Being fair the dealer has been communicative & accepts my concerns, however i feel this is possibly more down to the fact i've included the Franchise owner (Inchape) in my communications & its the Master Technician who's been working on my car.

Will be a sad day when my car goes as i was so looking forward to fulfilling a long held dream to own a new FFRR, but i can't stomach spending £100k on a car that's not fit for purpose & now with LR confirming they're known issues, clearly the InControl Touch Pro system was never really fit for the job as has been in other models for nearly 12mths & with so many failing i find this totally unacceptable from a premium vehicle manufacturer. Paul

Hi mate.
Your post confirms what I have been told about the infotainment system.
Mine goes tomorrow.
Dealer has refunded my deposit.
Refunded the cost of changing the reg number.
Finance company are to refund the 3 payments I have made to them.
Still after all of this I am going to be without a car.
I have even washed and hoovered it today, so it goes back has I collected it.
Not look forward to tomorrow one bit but hey ho I still have my transit van
Hope you don't have too much hassle with the process of returning it.
Here's to the next FFRR
Looking at at 2017 AB with old system in on Saturday.
Same colour and nearly same spec.
Fingers crossed I like it

All done now i hope.

Deposit should be refunded tomorrow & finance settled with LR Finance. The 4 payments made to LR Finance should be refunded by the end of the week & the Dealer will take my Cherished Number off the car (paying for the retention).

As soon as these are completed, the loan RRS will go back & that's the end of my FFRR journey. I'll unlikely ever venture back to any JLR car as the quality of the electronic systems is shocking & has killed the experience for me. I know many models in the range with InControl Touch Pro have suffered with problems of some degree or another & am aware of other cars in the Marque having been rejected for the InControl problems, including F-Pace & F-Type, as well as a variety of RR models.

It's a real shame as i loved the car mechanically & from a driving perspective it was sublime, but with so many features on the car only working sporadically & sometimes not at all, i'm afraid i'm out. Paul

Blimey. I've just read through the story and it's not a good experience and I'm glad it's resolved. I was waiting for the same answer that JLR gave during the fiasco of the useless surround camera system on the D4, where they simply said that it was "working to design intent" and washed their hands of any further contact on the matter Shocked

I'd be worried as to what happens when the new system is launched for the 18MY. Will JLR give up on further development of this system and turn their attention to trying to the next generation software to work?

In the circumstances (and to their credit), I'm impressed that JLR agreed the rejection so quickly.

My car is still on the drive,
Deposit was paid back but not finance payments.
The dealer said to hang on to the car until cheque arrived.
Cheque has arrived today and now waiting them to collect the car.
I would have another but would seek written confirmation from JLR that the issues with the system have been resolved bug I won't hold my breath.

I suppose all these rejected cars (all lovely looking ) will be back in the market for sale problems as well?

^ True...... Shocked

......maybe it's worth having a "sticky" topic listing cars which have had major issues or been rejected for various reasons. That way prospective purchasers can check first before parting with their hard earned.

I'm not suggesting anything detailed but maybe just the model, year and colour so members can PM the previous owners for confirmation.

More than likely. LR Finance are aware of MANY vehicles currently being rejected across the full JLR range, which for a Finance Company is almost unheard of.

Not in the best of moods today as now LR Customer Relations are i'm sure purposefully dragging their feet. They reckon it will be a few days before they've processed everything, even though the supplying Dealer & LR Finance are primed.

Everyone has agreed to the Rejection, but LR reckon with LR Finance involved it takes more time (not sure i find that believable) & they've a lot of paperwork to produce to action the rejection. Paul

I had been looking at very recent Approved used, but it has made me seriously think that these could easily be rejections Exclamation

Paul,
To be fair, the dealer told me it would take time.
I rejected the car with the them about 4 weeks ago and it is still here.
Deposit money was paid back last Friday and finance cheque arrived yesterday.
I just got the person I dealt with at the dealer to confirm the rejection by email, at least I had written confirmation that they agreed.
Good point about a sticky on rejected cars, although I have only read about 2 other on here.
I am happy to post up some pictures of the car as it leaves me for its journey back to the dealer.
Steve

Hi, just wanted to say that mine went in yesterday for full update on infotainment system, it now works a lot better and very fast start up.
The job note states they found a software update to the incontrol touch pro system, gateway module, body control module and reconfigure in control touch. they then cleared all DTC's and tested.

Also has new sim card reader, which sleared that fault.

Hi mate,
Glad yours is working better
Mine has been updated twice without any change still stalls after start up and resets itself, even LR themselves admit they cannot solve this issue yet, hence why it's going back.
Going to see another tomoz, so I might back in one soon.

That's one good thing about buying one owner, "O" plated, ex LR Management cars (not white ones, obviously!); at least they can never have been someone else's rejected cars Thumbs Up
