A 3.6 in this part of this part of the world destroyed a turbo and fortunately didn't damage the engine, but perhaps lucky. IIRC a new IC was fitted as it collected the bits and of course the other turbo also replaced.

sad news.

I have 3 engines here, all need work but might be worth thinking about if you knew what was specifically wrong with yours, sometimes its better to invest in what you know rather than buy something else.

crap shoot either way with these engines when they go wrong.

been there done that Big Cry

Will blanking off the EGRs give any problems at an MOT emissions test? After reading this thread, I want to get mine done ASAP!

That’s bad news.

I’d be confirming how much oil was in the sump, and if oil there would take driver side intake manifold off to look for any signs of metal fragments from the turbo. If nothing caught by the black goo then probably nothing in the pots. So new turbos and intercooler should fix it. I’d also look at the MAP sensors. Maybe they are coated in oil which might stop it from starting. Spray them with contact cleanener while they are still fitted. Or maybe one has taken a hit from a metal fragment. ______________________________

Car was scrapped this week. Probably a Volvo XC60 next for me.

If AC58CDZ turns back up for sale it'll be worth asking what they've changed to get it running again.

I've a full length dog guard now for sale if anyone is interested. Current cars:

Mini R56 Cooper S
Mini Cooper Race Car Smile

shame to see yet another scrapped, I feel your pain, have a think about a 4.4 there a far better prospect than the 3.6 tdv8's.

I tried the Volvo option and just never settled with it and went for a 4.4 and have never looked back, they still have faults but not so likely to throw something left field and terminal at you.

That is a shame. But given the price of a good L322 3.6 I can understand the economic reality. ______________________________
