That's the cheapest way to do it, only two bushes to replace on the front (each side) just make sure the swivel joints aren't knackered

If the swivel joints are knackered, do I need to replace the whole arm etc, or just get new swivel joints?

Excuse the - possibly - daft questions, as you may have guessed I'm not mechanically minded. What do I put here then?

If the joint has gone on the bottom arm then you will need to replace that whole arm, the other swivel joint is a separate item so you would not have to replace the arm with the big bush in it that connects to it.

I think - and hope - it's just the bush that's gone.

Thanks for all your help. What do I put here then?

Is this dealer dishonesty or incompetence?

FF needed an MOT last week,

I put it in for the test fully expecting the bushes to cause a fail. But thought it sensible to see if anything else needed fixing too.

The bushes were logged as 'an advisory': Signs of perishing to both front lower suspension arm bushes.

However, 'suspension arm ball joint excessively worn Offside Front Lower' gave me an MOT failure.

I couldn't wait for the 6 weeks it would take Lookers Chipperfield to fit me in. So I took it to Langley 4x4 instead - they're highly recommended.

With the ball joint replaced, the 'clonking' I'd been hearing was no more.

Why didn't Lookers Chipperfield spot this obvious fault?

Are they simply incompetent. Or - more worrying - perhaps they'd rather me foot a large bill for work which wouldn't solve the problem. What do I put here then?

I would replace the bottom ball joint as well while you are doing it but can be a bitch to get out may need to heat it up.
I've just got all the parts to replace mine on both side, all 6 items was under £200 ( Bearmach) but you can get cheaper ones around £120 but I like to use a make that I know

How do you rate the Bearmach suspension parts? any issues fitting etc? 2011 RR Autobiography 4.4 TDV8

About to replace the top rear bushes on both sides which have started the creaking pram noise at 110,000 and which appear to be the original ones. Finding new replacement concentric bolts, washers and nuts is proving a problem though.

Yes, the bolt, nut and washer that is used for the top bush that also adjusts the rear camber. Looks like you have the lot but how come a bolt comes in at £14.00 !
