In Microcat the valve breather is called filter assy, part no. 8510298. I wonder if it's the same as the BMW part no. 11127799224?

Found the part from BMW, it's no. 11127793163.

Took me 1 hour to replace, most of the time hunting the fallen bits... I think one can safely replace only the felt filter, it's half the price of the whole assembly, which costs 46 EUR...

Hi guys. Thanks to all and mainly to jope.Changed the breather filter and car now smokeless.
So simple and noone of the two f.... official RR workshops i have visited were able to find it.
Since i changed filter by my self so i ve got an idea thinking now to also clean egr valve as a further precaution.
Once again many thanks for the great assistance.

I too had issues loosing bits and used bluetac to hold the socket set and Hex head from falling...

My Breather was soaked in oil -after 285k I guess it was going to be dirty but soaked it oil was a surprise ! Haven;t had a chance to drive it yet.

Previously I blocked the EGR with a small piece of metal I cut myself which made at least 2litres per hundred gain in fuel efficiency and motor sounds much better and I think runs better. Definitely worth doing and for the effort of cutting a small metal disc yourself a cheap way to get results.

Now to take off the manifold and clean that !!

My TD6 is in standard tune but doesn't smoke at all even when booting it. I'd try a fuel injector cleaner and possibly squirt some fairy liquid up the exhaust and then fill it with water and leave it a few hours to eat at the soot. Then start the engine and don't touch the accelerator.

As you crank over it will clear the major part of the water and crud out and then spit water out for a little while and steam off the rest. Helps with a lot of smokey diesels that have sooted up exhausts from careful drivers who never give it the occasional boot.

As above though it also sounds like your remap is bad and hasn't been done right to be overfuelling so much. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Should have replaced with Pt No 11127799367. Updated part . Never have to replace again.

I have posted about this before so a search will help you.
When I was fitting the EGR blank I removed the inlet manifold from my TD6 and washed out the 5mm of black soot that had built up inside. My car would create smoke screens that would have made 007 jealous. No smoke once that job was done but by crikey it was a filthy job.

Brake fluid in the exhaust is much better. Burns the soot out but only when hot. people will think your engine has blown with the amount of smoke.
