Aux socket problems

Right, now my employer (ex employer) has "let me go" I thought I should use the time to sort out some niggles on my RR. Two are in the picture
1:The Censored lid won't stay shut and
2: The Aux input only works on one channel.
I've tested and am sure that the output from my iPod is stereo.

But I can't see how to get this panel to bits, the little round thing bottom right is indeed a rubber bung but it doesn't hide a screw - just a hole. So the $64,000 question is how do i dismantle this part without breaking or scratching it so I can look at the latch mechanism and also check the soldering behind the Aux socket to see if it's OK, if it is I'll look elsewhere.

Any on topic Very Happy ideas or experiences welcome
Thanks Geoff

Re shutting . Mine doesn't stay shut either. If you take the bottom left side vent by the rear passengers feet off (easy clips on/off) you can see the mechanism which is pretty flimsy. Mine clearly had a part of it snapped off when forced previously (presumably)?

It look as though it would be tricky to remove the mechanism (and expensive to replace) so I have left as is, interested to hear how you get on though.

Just use two well placed bits of velcro on the inside lip and it stays shut , anyone in the back is none the wiser Thumbs Up

Just had that part off mine today. More on why later. First, carefully remove the lower vent panel (below the part you photographed) by pulling it straight back - if you're not big and fat, that will allow you to lie on the floor in the back and look underneath the aux input panel. The module with the auxiliary socket is held in place from underneath by three small torx screws. Remove those, and it drops down. There's a green plug socket clipped to the side which you can unplug, then you're holding the little module with the Aux socket on it. Usefully, it has a LR part number label stuck on the side, in case you need to replace it. BUT ... try the cable first, as that's what was causing my problem!

And the reason I removed mine - just installed invisible bluetooth in my LR. Will post on that in a moment.

Oh, sorry, can't fix the lid mechanism!

Excellent thanks.

Thanks again Thumbs Up Geoff

Oh - also - while you've got that lower vent panel off, there are two larger torx screws which become visible (one on each side) which I believe would probably allow you to remove the whole rear panel and get at the lid mechanism. Haven't tested that theory though.

Job Done Thumbs Up

I got the panel off OK - thanks 365 Pilot Bow down and you were right nothing more was required than reseating the plug so no need to take anything else to bits. So I just ran a Y cable from my iPhone (apple multi connector on one end) to the USB adapter in the lighter socket and the other into the Aux socket and my iPhone in the armrest box lid, wires just run past the hinge fine.

I don't have steering wheel control - but it charges fine, plays music great (better than the CD player?) and best of all if a phone call comes in it fades music down and the call up through the speakers via BT.

The cable cost me just over 2 quid off fleabay - iPhone is now as integrated as I need it to be.

I would like to get the mount for the old Nokia out of the armrest box lid - anyone done this? Geoff
