Just to clarify, if a bulb is fitted to these markers, do they illuminate, or does a feature need to be turned on by modifying the CCF using an IIDTool or similar? Researching my first Range Rover purchase

England 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Santorini Black

Holy thread resurrection Batman!

So...I finally got around to doing something about colour coding my orange reflectors.

Splitting the headlight units open is fiddly and time consuming, but not particularly difficult. I didn't want to try and match them exactly, I don't want them to be invisible, just more in keeping the the colour scheme on the car.

Anyway, I'm not that happy with the paint finish on the passenger side, but I'm pleased with the overall look. I've actually decided what I'm going to do is take the reflectors in to a vinyl wrapping place and have them professionally wrapped.

I haven't decided yet whether to go for a silver carbon fibre vinyl or for a silver reflective one that 3M do, which will basically mean that the reflectors are back reflecting again.

Anyway...

Here's a thought for you, when I did a 06 conversion to my last 04 I painted the lights and grill surround in black and it looked awesome!

Just a thought...

Craig Thumbs Up

Grill (to have the surround painted) and bonnet vent cover (where the windscreen washers are) are going into the paint shop on Monday. Wink

Think I'll leave the lights...I have seen some painted ones, and they do look great, but just too far into the "customised" look for me.

I'd like mine to be close enough to factory that only those 'in the know' will notice the tweaks. Thumbs Up Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

Got the reflectors professionally wrapped in a metallic grey vinyl today (it was the closest colour match I could find to the grill / bonnet vent etc).

Am really happy with the finish and colour now.

I know it won't be to everyone's taste as it's not an OEM look, but to my eye the orange reflector looks out of place in the headlight. I think in an ideal world I'd like a clear or smoked plastic lens, but I think that would have to be a custom made moulded plastic job, which I would imagine would be prohibitively expensive.

I've seen some people chop up a diffuser from a florescent tube light to make a clear lens, but the finish isn't high quality enough for me.

Ironic that I made sure it matched the grill and bonnet vent etc as they're being painted body colour on Monday. Laughing

Anyway....

Sure. You'll notice I've also colour coded the "Range Rover" lettering front and back, and also the strip above the number plate on the rear boot lid. Thumbs Up

Thanks Stan. I'm glad you approve. Thumbs Up

I tried to make my modifications more tweaks on the factory look than out-and-out changes. I think I've said before that I wanted it so that those in the know would see the little touches here and there, but the uneducated probably wouldn't notice much difference from standard.

I won't be doing anything else to the exterior now, but I do plan an LR ipod kit and a piano black steering wheel and gear knob for the interior. Then I'm done.

Unless someone can figure out a way to get DAB truly integrated of course... Wink Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...
