there's two parts to coding a key, first is the transponder, this has to be done with the car present as it sync's with the ecu, i have not found any one other then LR dealers that can do this..the second part is to code the key to your lock system, this can be done by yourself and is quite simple. i have tried to by blank keys from land rover when i was converting old key to flip key and they would not even sell me a blank let alone a blank key,
just one other thing, a coded transponder chip can not be recoded V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

I ordered the key via Landrover after giving them my Vin ... And proving ownership etc ... Do I still need to get it coded by a Landrover dealer before I can use it? African Bush Junkie ... in London!

if you have ordered it through the dealer it will be coded when you get it..what they cant do is pre code it for the locking as it is a rolling code and will ask you to bring the car in, you could say at this point, is it to sync it to the car and are you going to charge for that, as it can be done by yourself. just wanted to know what have they quoted you for the key V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Was quoted 150 for the Key plus VAT and then £55 + VAT for the coding.

Since the Key was cut to my VIN I would have thought it would have come pre-coded (as far as the Transponder was concerned) - that appears to be the basis on what the other chaps on here have then synced their keys ... African Bush Junkie ... in London!

Update: Apparently the key still needs to be coded to the transpoder via a data connection to the vehicle ... So looks like there is no option but a trip to the Stealers ... Sad African Bush Junkie ... in London!

Hi all

if you see my other topic i have asked about something similar to this but this is the next development!

New car battery is now on working fine no issues have invested in a solar trickle charger for good measure though just incase car now starting no issues.

The only issue i now have is since the original battery went flat and has now been changed the remote locking/unlocking/tailgate release doesnt work. The light flashes when you press the buttons but nothing. the doors have to be unlocked/locked by key and the indicators flash when you do this. i have changed the battery in the remote and guess what its still the same the little red light on the key fob flashes but no action from any of the 3 buttons

any ideas at all chaps?

thanks in advance
