Computer average mpg

I have a 02 4.4 vogue, if I go into the OBD it give me 2 mpg figures. But both read the average mpg on the car which I can reset at diff times, so....
1) why does it give me 2 of the same readings
2) can I somehow set one as average and one as current mpg????

Cheers

I guess it gives you two so you can check who's the most economical driver, assuming two of you drive the car.

No idea on #2. Wink

Unless I am missing something, there are two consumption / mpg monitors available on the car, simply so you can run one for long term and one for specific trips, or what ever other reason you may have.

If both are giving the same reading, then is it that you haven't reset either for a while? Reset one of them and drive like a loony (low mpg) or a granddad (high mpg) and then you should get two different readings?

Why accessing via OBD when they are there on the dash / screen? .

I have one set to show my long term mpg over several months. - 25mpg. I use the second one to show my mpg on shorter journeys - eg 30+ mpg on motorway driving etc. it's just a handy tool once you figure out how they work. No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE

I do similar....

Consumption 1 I use for daily drives and Consumption 2 I use between fillups...

Unfortunatly there isn't a wya to set one as current consumption...

Hidden Menu 6 (or is it 3??) is supposed to show current consumption in l/100km or something like that, but I haven't had a chance to look into that yet.!!

Yea I use it like that at the moment, I reset one n long journeys and just leave the other one.

Joe I ment the screen, not OBD lol

Just seems abit pointless, but oh well
