Not sure why anyone would be surprised really. Another statistic to back up my theory that a basic truncheon is all that should be allowed. they have to get up close & personal with one of those so there's no room for visual errors.

This happened not far from me and it was bit more serious ![]() http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-50...quest.html The policeman made a mistake and will be reprimanded and retrained I expect - the guy will get an apology and compensation but it should not have happened ![]() After Manchester he was probably feeling a bit vulnerable and it is easy to overreact if you think you are in danger - thankfully he was not carrying a gun ![]() Still hoping for a S2 one day! |

That was the point I was trying to make regarding going back to nothing more than a truncheon. The vast majority of people in general (not just police) simply do not have the right mentality or stability of mind to carry any kind of weapon. It's really easy to say that they have been trained etc, but the cold hard facts are that whilst we all think we know what we would do when the pressure's not on, when it is turned up a bit the mind naturally moves into survival mode and it takes a really special kind of person to override that basic instinct. As an old boss of mine used to say, "when you're up to your ar5e in crocodiles it's not easy to remain focused on draining the swamp." |
