Howdy all,

My FFRR's climate control seems a bit on the warm side. I normally set it to 19C and If gets so warm after 30 mins or so I have to turn off the heating and open a window.

My wife drives her D3 with the climate control on 24C and she was complaining about the heat in my FFRR's cabin when it was set to 18C yesterday.

Is this a common occurrence? Is it an easy fix? Car is going into the dealer for a bluetooth upgrade next week anyway so I will ask them to have a look but I would like to have a bit of an idea in advance.

hi I may be wrong but have you tried to adjust the center face grill heater dial from red towards blue ?? i have mine on single red position otherwise it gets too warm

How warm is it outside? Do you see your electrical fan spinning?

the center dial is on Blue (3 dots) - cold(ish) air from the face vents but my feet and the air from the dash was v hot.

it was 11.5C outside, which electrical fan? I was driving on a dual carriageway at 100kph (cruise control set). From Ireland, Living in the UAE

There is an electrical fan in front of the radiator that should spin when AC is used. The exterior temperature is too low for the AC compressor to engage though, so maybe it's a final stage resistor thing.

I've been monitoring it for the last few days and it seems like the vents to clear the side windows (i.e. narrow ones above the face vents) are venting very hot air all the time when the climate control is turned on. so all the other vents seem ok its just the ones to clear the front side windows......

Mine is the same and my previous TD6 was not, it was VERY cool even at 22 degrees, this TDV8 is much warmer. It seems to stay hot for the first 30 mins, then starts to cool things down. Not a problem in the depths of winter but summer could be interesting.

I've had 2 Dealers look into it, they've both reset the software on it and checked it over and said it's fine. Maybe that's why they fit air cooled seats...  Discovery 4 HSE

I find that the system takes ages to adjust to the heat range set on the controls but does gets there eventually!

I keep the face air control on blue most of the time.

My wife however just turns the fan dial up and down manually effectively turning off the air conditioning and basically f***ing everything up however many times I tell her

You sure you do not need a re-gas of the system? You may have a leak somewhere. Java with Ivory 2006 4.2 Supercharged. 23.5k miles - NOW SOLD!

We're in a no mans land in terms of outside temp at the mo and the ATC can get its knickers in a twist over what it should be doing.

In theory when the air outside is 10 degrees, and you have it set to 20 degrees inside all it has to do is heat an extra 10. In reality it has other things to consider, solar load, existing interior temp and vehicle speed. If one of these sensors is giving incorrect readings the system should detect it and adopt default values.

At the moment though I have to manually intervene a lot to try and get the right interior temperature, something I never had to do in the P38.

Around 10 degrees odd things happen with the face level vents, Rave doesn't go into detail but refers to the systems "strategy's and maps" ie what it does and where it directs the air when on Auto.

I've asked on the BMW forums for more info on the HEVAC ECU logic, but no info has been forthcoming so far.

All that being said, tbh it just sounds like you need a re-gas. 

ok now I'm getting worried - the car is fine one day and then roasting after 5 mins the next.

However the center console is getting really hot, the cup holder is very warm inside and the left hand side of the drivers footwell gets hot to the touch. Any ideas?
