I'm starting to lose my marbles a bit so looking for some help

I have a squeak from the front offside brake. I've just had it looked over by my great local indy and they've removed disk (loads of meat left on it) and skimmed it so it is not warped, checked over pads (loads of life left in them too) and chamfered the edges slightly and popped on a bit of copper grease. The caliper is a new (recon) unit that has been on for a year and is in very good shape. They're as stumped as I am.

The squeak came on last week without warning. Nothing seems to be stuck in there. Temperature doesn't affect it, it has been the same from -4 (today) to +12 degrees C.

Any ideas at all? A tiny dab of brake stops it so it is definitely a pad/disk/caliper squeak. It gets slightly worse when turning left.

could be the actual pads, my wife had the same problem, changed the pads to another make and all was well.. ... - .- -.

The only thing I considered was that I'd somehow managed to glaze the pads.

Yesterday evening I went out onto the deserted Dales roads and did 4 high speed stops (70mph-0mph quick as poss without engaging ABS). I do this to bed in pads and avoid glazing on my rally cars but, on this occasion, didn't help the Rangie.

I had he same problem with mine, even the extra rubbing noise when turning. Replaced the caliper and all was good. Maybe your caliper has started to stick a bit????? I got a new one off the bay for £45 so might be worth a try. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

If something can't be fixed with a hammer....... You have yourself an electrical fault!

Another vote for the pads. Some pads and disc combos just squeal with the type of braking the driver does. I used to get squeal from the rears a lot ... i figured it was cause I did a lot of long gentle braking with the horse trailer attached.

Changed the pads to EBC greenstuff and noise disappeared overnight and never came back. Discs weren't changed either. V8 or else ...

You can never use enough copper grease. Slap it all over, well, the back of the pads I mean. It's defo the front? What happens if you put the handbrake on a bit, does the noise go? Previously..

When I just did my rear pads one was starting to squeak a bit, picked up some copper grease and the chappie in ECP said that PAGID now did their own non metallic compound which was better at stopping squeal. only cost a couple of squids for a small tube and seems to have done the trick, along with the new pads that is. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
