Blinking odometer with indicators!

As above , when I put my indicators on I can see a very faint dimming of the odometer display/obc display. It's not very bad but I have now noticed it- also I have just got a number plate bulb out message - the bulb (led replacement) isn't out? But it too is slightly flickering - do you think these two are symptoms of the same problem?

Please tell me it's not battery or alternator ! No starting problems at all, don't know how old the battery is though , at least 1 year . 2003 Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

It's not the battery or alternator. Thumbs Up Smile
Usually it would be down to a poor earth connection but in this case I'm not sure where.
You say you have a numberplate light fault message but the led is lit... there are two numberplate bulbs, are they both lit?
Try removing the number plate bulbs out and see if the blinking disappears.

Both lights are lit, will have a go at removing/refitting them. So you think these are two unconnected problems? Where's a good place to start looking for my dodgy earth? None of the actual vehicle lights (head/tail etc) dim with the indicators nor do the speedo backlighting just the pixel LCD backlight Question Question 2003 Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

Have you got canbus error free leds in the numberplate lights?

I don't know about the odometer problem, but for all external lights u can't simply put any led light in, they have to be canbus error free LEDs or else ur gonna get the warning lights up on the dash even tho the lights are working. This is cause LEDs use less power than regular bulbs so basically when u put an led instead the car doesn't recognize it.u can get them on the bay for pennies.just search for error free LEDs or canbus LEDs etc Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Tuts, a friend had the same problem and was told that it is normal for the dash lights to pulse/dim slightly.

Thumbs Up as long as nothing's about to fail I can handle a little 'normal' quirk! Cheers! 2003 Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

The light control module has a bus-bar design that supplies all of the power transistors powering the lights with the positive supply voltage.

Its a single piece of metal that the transistors all draw from. So if one is drawing power and another draws more, it makes the whole system dim a little.

A bit like when the lights are on in the room and you switch the hoover on, the lights dim slightly. Or if your into the shower, and someone runs a tap, the shower pressure dips a little.

So, in short. Tis normal ! V8 or else ...

With regards to the rear number plate LEDs, really strange as the car was initially happy with the LEDs with no error messages at all for about 5 months, this week it seems to not like them anymore? Changed back to bulbs and no more error messages? Bizarre !?!? 2003 Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black
