I'm amazed everyday how advanced this thing is! 5 years old and the tech in it is better than some more recent vehicles. Ill be checking the tyre tonight. I didn't expect 2 bongs this morning (not that type) to warn me. Temperature and spare tyre. Just fantastic.

However! When you pump the tyre up and I keeps telling you to check the spare its bloody annoying. How does the car know its spare tyre is below pressure?

You need to go for a drive to give the system time to register you have pumped up the spare tyre. That is assuming that the cold has not killed off the battery in the tyre sensor in your spare. Make sure you have got the tyre pumped up to the maximum recomended pressure. 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

Oh right ok, I did put the engine on without driving it before I posted this so I will be driving it tomorrow morning. How easy is it to replace the battery in the sensor and also how do the sensors tell the car it's tyre is low I don't understand it at all!

Inflate as per fully laden on the tyre sticker on the B pillar. Otherwise it can still bong if set to regular pressure Thumbs Up

The battery in the sensor is not designed to be replaced. The sensor is a sealed unit with some kind of resin or glue holding all the parts in place.

The sensor is sat on the back of the tyre valve and has some kind of pressure switch inside it. When you drive the vehicle the car sends a signal to each of the tyre sensors in turn from antena fixed inside the wheel arches. Each sensor then responds as appropriate. 56 TDV8 Vogue SE
