Advice on a groan

Hello chaps,

Well life with the FF continues to 'entertain'.

This week's new problem is a specific groan/vibration.

It manifests itself at around 40-50mph, usually but not exclusively in 4th gear. The groan is loud. Properly loud. Loud so you can hear it over the radio with all windows closed. It is accompanied by a judder that it noticable through the throttle pedal.

A blip of throttle or braking to slow will get rid of it. The groan sounds like it is coming from the rear but it is hard to tell.

I've had a recon gearbox and replacement transfer box within the last 10,000 miles.

A bit of online searching indicates it could be the torque converter or 'vibration control'.

Has anyone had anything like this? If so what was it?

In typical style I'm currently 200miles from home in the remote Scottish west coast. No specialist for 100 miles, and they'd be closed even if there was...

Cheers,

Ben

One of the rear calipers sticking, any fitter can remove it and free off and lubricate to get you home then about £69 from eurocar parts. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

Do you really think it could be a caliper sticking?

Not doubting you, just wondering how that could cause the pedal judder etc.

When my front caliper stuck it was horrendous and the more you drive the hotter it gets and sticks more, easy to check as one will be far hotter than the other, squirt some water on them when it does it.

Edit the back ones can do the same One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

Missed my main chance to check as have just been out for 20 mile trip. That said after 15 mins stationary - have 3 disks that are more or less cold, one still with some residual heat (nsr) - guess you could be right, thanks! Will check it out tomorrow when light.

mine is doing exactly the same but with a squeal not a groan, get a cup of water and chuck a bit on each disc after a run, the stuck one will be hissing.

Mine is off to Hunters for a strip down and diagnose. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
