Any ideas ?

The in-car temp is always quite a bit higher than the indication on the dials. For example 18 degrees on the dial equates to 22.4 degrees on a thermometer. Only if I dial it all the way down to 16 do I really get much cold air coming into the cabin.

The aircon works fine... same thermometer says 4.4 degrees at the vent if on full blast.

Dirty in car temperature sensor?

Are you using the 'air blend' roller switch?
The horizontal dial marked Blue / Red.
On mine this significantly alters the temperature of the air from the vents.

Thanks for the ideas... I assume the cabin air sensor is the one in the central dash pillar.

It looks clean from the outside, but of course that means nothing at all... will have a look at how to remove and clean properly.

The fans work well so I doubt it is FSR, but again worth a look.

jon, does the temperature read correctly when in manual mode, if it does then concentrate on the temp sensor.. ... - .- -.

Not sure how to read it in manual mode. All the vents come out a different temperature, but of course if you read the overall temp it rises above the setting as warm air never stops being pushed in.

Did do a more scientific test on the Auto mode and it seems I get the following readings

Setting (Reading)

18 (20.7)
20 (23.4)
22 (26.2)
24 (28.5)

Yes how do we get at the sensor?

I guess a big ass compressor blowing into the sensor area is not the best thing to do ????  MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

If you follow this video and work down to the grille intake panel it should be self explanatory.

Got the unit out but did not have time to do the full job of removing the back panel to reveal the circuit board. Used a hoover on the back of the unit to clear out the fan though and can see it is spinning freely.

If not done the trick I will remove with more time tomorrow and do the proper job.
