sun roof operation

I nearly gave myself a heart attack earlier.
went out to the car and as it was hot I opened a coupla windows and the sunroof
then I started the engine, closed the windows and set off.
when I set off I pressed the door lock button on the centre console as I always do
thinking it was a bit windy going along I pressed my sunroof button to close and the fecking thing didn't do anything.
I was thinking "blimey, hope it's a fuse"
wasn't until I tried it after turning off the door lock button that it operated.
so, how on earth can that make sense?
why wire the sunroof into the door locks?
or is my car different to others?

Why did you press the lock button? It should auto lock over a certain speed, although I guess this can be deactivated.
I'm guessing that once you press the button the car acts as if you've locked it from outside and prevents sunroof movement. But it doesn't really make sense to me either. Bushy

My understanding is that on a UK car, this defaults to inactive.
My FF has autolock enabled because I went in via T4 to activate this feature to the US Spec. I guess someone has manually activated yours at some time in the past too....
@Soggy - Get autolock turned on if you like this feature. It's one less thing to remember after takeoff! 2006 4.2 SC

Ah I see, oh well. I just tried pressing my button and activating the sunroof and it kept resetting to where I stopped it, weird!
However with the auto lock it works perfectly. Rolling Eyes

I agree get the auto lock turned on its a lot easier and apparently different. Bushy

My sunroof would open but not close unless you switched the ignition off and on again, then it worked again. I cured it by resetting the sunroof. I have now enabled auto lock and there is no problem with the sunroof operation, therefore try resetting the sunroof to see if that fixes it
