Holy crap!

So this was my near side ball joint. LITERALLY fused into the hub. I actually thought it might have been welded at one point... Lump hammer/ cold chisel/ many many hits later =

I had same experience : it's better for access to wack it squarely when you take the hub off totally. This is actually an easier option IMHO, when the balljoint is totally seized into the housing. Course, you wil then find that the stub shaft is rusted into the splined section, preventing that approach. Nor sure why manufacturer doesn't use anti- seize ( copper grease) on assembly.....

Because that would cost an extra 10p per vehicle on production costs Whistle

We're having the same problem with my rear balljoints. Offside upper and lower have been done. Near side upper had to be cutout with a hacksaw. Going to tackle the lower near side this weekend. Ordered a new camber bolt for the one we need to cut through.

Separating the lower one from the hub was also a pig. Used a technique shared on here involving putting a big spanner in the gap then jacking the spanner up! It's a satisfying ping when it pops!

After changing the one above mine still has a little creak!
