So this was my near side ball joint. LITERALLY fused into the hub. I actually thought it might have been welded at one point... Lump hammer/ cold chisel/ many many hits later =

I had same experience : it's better for access to wack it squarely when you take the hub off totally. This is actually an easier option IMHO, when the balljoint is totally seized into the housing. Course, you wil then find that the stub shaft is rusted into the splined section, preventing that approach. Nor sure why manufacturer doesn't use anti- seize ( copper grease) on assembly..... |

Because that would cost an extra 10p per vehicle on production costs |

Separating the lower one from the hub was also a pig. Used a technique shared on here involving putting a big spanner in the gap then jacking the spanner up! It's a satisfying ping when it pops!
